The Primal Spark
No matter that the final life-light dies As dead-sent starlight fades into the dark, I saw infinity within her eyes.
I saw our souls, bereft of any guise, Conjoined — an endlessly ascending arc, No matter that the final life-light dies.
And though I am a man oft plagued by whys, Her peerless gaze entailed no question mark: I saw infinity within her eyes.
Beyond the stretch of transient earthen ties Reverberates our hymn — we need but hark! No matter that the final life-light dies.
So long I feared a night the moon shan't rise, But when I followed home love's primal spark, I saw infinity within her eyes.
No longer, I dread the time, though it flies Until, dissolved, all-being's last lost quark; No matter that the final life-light dies, I saw infinity within her eyes.
