⠀ Representation Matters⠀ We need to push the narrative forward for more inclusive representation. Natural hair doesn’t have to be CURLY or LONG to be represented. Hair Typing is only one small aspect of our haircare, Let’s Educate ourselves on healthy hair practices. Stop the negative Hair Typing Myths!! Stop the FAVORITISM towards certain hair types. 4c hair is not a curse, 4c hair is not dry hair, and may look different on everyone. Stop ARGUING with people about their hair types, Learn YOUR hair, most people have SEVERAL DIFFERENT TEXTURES of hair. ⠀ ⠀ The hair you were created with is BEAUTIFUL and UNIQUE, please learn to EMBRACE It. We need more representation for the variety of natural hair types and textures. Lack of representation and accurate information pushes lots of naturals to perms and other unhealthy hair practices. So ENOUGH of the tearing each other down over hair types, skin tones etc. Let's lift each other up and be the representation for one another. ⠀ ⠀ I know my focus here is on natural hair, but the same goes for so many aspects of our lives as Black people. Positive representation is needed in all forms of life, The Classroom, The Workforce, Politics, TV, Science, Movies. ⠀ Let us all use our positions in the community to build more positive representations. How many photos to you have to take to get one that you love? Took me about 10 to get the one you see here. This in mind, why do we put so much stock in what we perceive to be perfection.
