Can you tell us about Wolf Dreams? 👀

I said a few things here, but, yeah, it's a novel, book four in my urban fantasy series. There's a witch and her girlfriend who is a supernatural creature; a werewolf who's a veterinarian and demands help to find the missing leaders of her pack; the witch's stepbrother and the girlfriend's brother who don't want these two ladies to get into more trouble after 3 books worth of it; and an elderly cat who used to be a familiar and now is just along for the ride.

But there's trouble brewing in town, it's like Milan is holding its breath, waiting for catastrophe to strike.

"A year ago," I explain to Emmet, without taking my eyes off of the vet, "I told Fabiola that I would owe her a debt if she did me a favor, which she did." To Fabiola I say: "What do you need?"

"Nero and Titania are missing. I want you to help me find them."

"Who's missing?" asks Emmet, scratching his cheek. He needs to shave.

"The leaders of my group."

"Cool. But it's not, like, a band, right?"

Three pairs of eyes look at him like he's a total nincompoop. The nincompoop raises his hands in surrender.

"Hey, in my defense, I'm barely awake. Okay, werewolves, your pack of werewolves, got it. Cool. I'm gonna go and make some coffee. Does anyone want coffee? No? Nobody? Okay."

Good luck at the dentist! Think of Billy, sleepy and loopy after a dental visit. Steve taking care of him, smiling at the silly conversation Billy seems to be having with himself over on the couch about spoons. Apparently they are useless because people have fingers, and there’s nothing a spoon can do that your hands can’t. Steve teasing him a little, bringing up counter points, just to watch that wrinkle appear in Billy’s brow before he doubles down on the point he’s trying to make.

Someone (I forget who orz) wrote about Steve picking Billy up after getting his wisdom teeth out, and it was soooo sweet (@chrisbitchtree was this you?). Either way, this is *chef's kiss* husband material.

Baby fic/not a date.

Aw. You didn't give me a ship to go with so I'm going to assume it's Harringrove, heh.

I was thinking of an idea where they're all a few years older and someone's recently had a baby. Could be Max or Nancy - or a modern AU with Robin/Heather adopting a baby.

So I would use the classic, already a fandom cliché Steve's-a-babysitter-trope where he's asked to look after the baby while the baby's parents are out together. Steve's an only child and he's only had experience with older kids/younger teens, so he's never even touched a diaper in his entire life - let alone dressed, fed, or put a baby to sleep.

If it was Max's baby (or Robin/Heather), Billy would be more or less involved there. He's the baby's proud uncle/godfather after all and he wouldn't trust someone like Harrington not to drop the baby or even lose it (they're still not on friendly terms after that Byers house incident many years ago but they tolerate each other because of Max - but they're secretly smitten with each other, heh).

So because Billy doesn't trust Steve alone with the baby and it's Saturday and it's not like he's got anything better to do, he wouldn't pass up a good opportunity to get closer to his former high school rival and a secret crush. :)

Whether Billy's gonna be just loitering around in the house, drinking beer, and making fun of the "baby daddy" Steve or then actually showing Steve how to take care of a baby because Steve's a helpless dumbass, it's going to be a real bonding moment for them. When the baby's finally asleep, they might even have a quiet evening for themselves where they can just sit on the couch, drink beer and watch some movies together.

(and maybe sometime later, an actual date takes place)

For everyone knows/Mistaken for couple + Prison AU, I would write about Billy who’s a prison guard, but dreams of being a lawyer some day. Steve is wrongfully imprisoned, and Billy knows he was warned about forming relationships with the inmates, but Steve’s a good guy and Billy genuinely believes him when Steve tells him he’s innocent. In his spare time, Billy starts researching Steve’s case and trying to get him freed. His fellow guard, Heather, confronts him about his feelings, but he denies feeling anything for Steve, truly believing that he just wants to help this innocent man. Meanwhile, Steve, so focused on doing anything he can to help Billy build his case, doesn’t have any clue that he’s developing feelings for Billy, even when Dustin and Robin point out Billy is the only thing he talks about when they visit.

Send me two tropes from this list + a ship and I’ll tell you what I would write for a mashup of them!

I have never read a were-Bunny fic before but now I am a little obsessed. ❤️

Welcome to the Bunny Steve party 💜💜💜 I blame ao3 I was uploading a werewolf story and when I typed Were it brought up either rabbit or bunny as an option and Bunny Steve hopped his way into my brain and now he lives there rent free 🐰🐰🐰 also I dunno if it's just me but Joe Keery kinda looks like a cute bunny 😅😅😅 Plus this amazing and awe inspiring work by @monochromegee added fuel to the fire

One thing I see a lot in fi c is a focus on the "getting out" whether that's Billy getting out of Neil's house or Steve getting unstuck, and that's great. But I would love to see more about the what happens after. What happens after you get out of the place you feel stuck in and you still have the rest of your life ahead of you. Do you have any head canons about how Billy and Steve might find themselves and what hobbies and passions they might discover as adults?

It depends on the au but I think no matter what, these two are going to be very affectionate people in their relationship. Steve is our Steve, he puts his heart out there all the time. Billy is bombastically himself when he's allowed to be, and we've seen how, at his core, he just enjoys spending time with the people he loves and sharing interests.

So if it's the 80s, they'd play up the "we're old high school classmates" thing outside the house, but inside the house it would be full on marriage. Almost like every time they're both home, they're drained from playing straight.

If it's contemporary, they'd be that couple going to ceramics classes together. Steve doesn't get it, but the class isn't what matters. Billy is very much a person who enjoys something 80% on his own, and then 120% if he's with someone he loves.

As for everything else, even though I've written them in different locations, no one actually talks about how hard it is to move/change locations. I've moved states as a teenager and then hopped countries in college and it's just never pleasant or easy, so Billy and Max's situation is like immediately a yellow flag since they're fresh from California.

This would mean Billy would have to be a pillar of safety and comfort for Steve if they move haha and they'd both have to figure out how to be homes for each other without co-dependency (although you know I love some co-dependent husbands. I eat that sh!t up).

Question 13! What's an Au you are interested in seeing?

@rascheln recently reshared a time travel!au with a moodboard where s3 billy gets thrown back in time while Steve's having his introduction/freak-out at the Byers.

I'm in love with the concept, because Billy's in the telephone booth, so it's very Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure but it's dark and ominous but also full of hope because baby s1 Steve gets an equally freaked out strong man out of nowhere ~~~~ it's delish! (Read their tags on the post for more details).

Obviously there's no pressure to every write it, but it is wondrous food for thought ~
