back on my bullshit
these are my rulers of new vegas??? hell na we aint never gonna wipe out the boulder free zone at this rate!!!
idk if you’ve already talked about this on your page but, as a sort of Lloyd expert, do you have any interesting takes on the whole “I tried to tell you! You cut me off!” scene in the book?
i think i have briefly talked about this scene in one of my previous posts. once i find it, i'll link it!
interesting takes... i think it depends on what you mean by interesting. to me, the scene always read as lloyd KNOWING flagg cannot do the vegas thing without him and being able to challenge flagg with a feeling of security or safety.
flagg and lloyd's dynamic in vegas has always been incredibly interesting to pick apart. lloyd is the one truly running things while flagg is a face of fear, lloyd manages all of the happenings in vegas, he enforces the law, he watches out for spies, the airforce project, crucifixions, all of the good stuff. flagg just walks. he walks, comes back, gets a report from lloyd, then gives lloyd more orders... but the people never see him outside of his walks. what does flagg even do outside of fearmongering with extreme punishment? lloyd handles the people. flagg can't. he NEEDS lloyd.
i think lloyd knows flagg could never get rid of him even if he wanted to. and boy, did flagg want to. flagg is a sloppy manager. leaving lloyd out of the red list bevause of his own paranoia was the stupidest thing he could have done. it's part of why vegas fell. a LARGE part of why vegas fell, in my opinion.
Getting back into the swing of animatics with this silly Nadine and Lloyd thing
lloyd henreid and his three boyfriends
i may just be shoving my interests together again but what does everyone think about lloyd henreid narrator and randall flagg tyler durden
2020!lloyd was like really meek and pathetic but book!lloyd understood he was ONE rank below flagg and that he was chosen for reason and he was not going to let even his SUPERIOR disrespect him, which we see when he screams in flagg's face for not letting him talk while flagg is RAGING. he knows he's important LMFAO i like flagg/lloyd in the "you must really hate having to admit you need me" way
“I didn’t do it for you!”
“Yes you did. You may not think so, but you did.”
This interaction does a LOT to me. This loyal to the end mutt who’s just stepped too far out of his comfort zone, screaming and crying and thrashing away from his master’s touch. The master, who watches him chase his own tail nervously and lay down and whine and bark and howl at the sky for god’s forgiveness, but pets him and reassures him it’s ok. And the pet listens anyways, because that’s who he’s supposed to be for his master. Good and loyal.
Lloyd’s eagerness to please Flagg falling for a second is a KEY part in his story, even if it’s almost right at the end. This doubt just rips all my heartstrings to PIECES and it shows that Lloyd’s scared side never ever went away. That even when following Flagg’s orders, he can still find ways to defy him. The thing is that almost immediately after he falls right back into Flagg’s hands. He’s not immune to this manipulation and that’s his downfall.
Lloyd is WAY more complex than a lot of people give him credit for in my opinion.
