Talking about Flat-leafed Bladderwort (Utricularia intermedia) today!
I learn't about it's existence today through a book I picked up upon my travels to Newfoundland a few years back. The coolest thing about this plant is that it dosen't actually rely on roots. NOPE No roots on this bad ass! So your probably wondering how does this bad boy pick up the nutrients needed in order for it to function? Why through it's little air bladders of course!
Now because this guy lives in such shallow and nutrient deficiant muck, it's grown adapt to SUCKING INSECTS into those air bladders mentioned earlier. It happens so fast, in order to record it you need a HIGH SPEED CAMERA. And people say plant's aren't smart.
