marie doesn't need to follow his gaze over her shoulder to the eclectic individual who, in a truly preposterous series of events, had ( temporarily, she hopes ) become her problem and whom she can hear in impassioned, persuasive argument with the security officer currently charged with keeping him out of trouble.
when the cayuga had arrived to a planet a week prior to find not the distress portended by the distress call that had summoned them, but rather an individual dead set on completing a laundry list of arbitrary tasks, marie too had wanted to know what was going on. since, marie's exasperation with the entire situation has nearly wholly given way to amusement — there was only so much one could take before having to laugh at the absurdity of a situation, and this was nothing if not absurd.
to marie, said tasks were arbitrary, but to their guest, they were a scavenger hunt, and apparently of the utmost importance. not that he had been able to explain said importance to marie's satisfaction — or that of her chief of security, who had yet to stop grumbling about how they ought to have left him behind. distress or not, her conscience had refused to leave an individual stranded.
she grimaces, considers just how she could possibly explain, and settles for a wry smile. ❛ no, no you really don't. trust me. ❜ some things were better let be, and this, certainly, wasn't worth the effort. or the time. ❛ he's... not relevant. ❜ not to their current, official task, at any rate. ❛ unless you'd like to take him off our hands. I'm sure he'd be delighted to explain everything to you. ❜
