Punishment by Design
Old school software does many things, but few things well. It punishes almost everyone who uses it because it is designed for no one in particular. New school software does few things, but it does them with strong opinions. It only punishes those who don't agree with those opinions.
Yesterday I released version 1.0 of my new product, FlickinAmazing. FlickinAmazing is a unique new photo browser that emphasizes great photography from flickr.com. This app isn't about pictures of your best friend's wedding. It isn't about blurry pictures of your nephew and the cute face he was making that you almost captured. I think we all have plenty of ways to share that stuff by now. This app is about finding stunning photography from talented photographers. Over the coming weeks I will be publishing a series of posts about how I made FlickinAmazing and the design choices that put it a cut above other photo browsing apps.
