No. I didn’t go to North Korea to interview Kim Jong Un with James Franco and Seth Rogan ( Even though that would be pretty epic). It’s pretty obvious that I went to interview for a FA job and got it! I know a lot of people have asked me questions about the interview and what it takes to make it during the F2F. And I am here to answer them all ;) If you have any other questions feel free to send them over!
I received my CJO July 8th at 12:30 PM. I was given the offer with 8 other people. 2 were internal applicants and 2 others were FA’s for JetBlue. 1 is over 40 and 4 of us were under 25. Make sure to arrive about 20 - 30 mins prior to your interview time. If you can, please try and meet other people on the indeed forums or Facebook who are also going to the F2F. I was lucky enough have someone drive me as well as 4 others to the Headquarters.
If you are given a CJO..please be prepared for a LONG day. I arrived at LGA at around 6:50AM for a 7:40AM flight. Arrived in ATL at 10:37.. Met up with my two new brothers (who I cannot wait to train with) and ate at the IHOP Express..we did not arrive at HQ until 12:00 PM. Once we received our CJO we completed paper work, drug screening and fingerprinting. A little hint...DO NOT PEE after the last step in the interview process..if you are called for the CJO, you will regret it. It took me 2 hours and 23 cups of water to pee in a cup! Luckily I had the latest flight, but the woman conducting the drug test was pissed lol. Luckily my charm won her over and we were chatting the whole time. The interview was completed at around 4:45PM and I did not leave HQ until 7:45PM. If you are given a CJO you will have to provide your own transportation to the airport. One woman offered to drive me and another to the airport but because of my bladder problem I took a cab. They are located right outside the gates..and it was about 6 bucks.
My training date is officially September 28th! I’m training with everyone in my CJO group which will be SO MUCH fun! I cannot wait to meet everyone else :)
1. Do I have to buy a new outfit?
No, you really do not. I am fortunate enough to have a mom who works on Wall Street and feels that it is necessary for a tennis coach/sales associate/student/physical therapy assistant to have a proper fitting suit. To my interview I wore a Calvin Klein navy suit and a sleeveless white blouse under it. My outfit was nothing special, in fact I have had the same suit for about 3 years and this is my first time actually wearing it. I wore the same suit during my video interview, which made preparing for the F2F a little less stressful. I only had to buy pantyhose since during my video interview I only had the top and blazer on. The bottom..not so much lol. As far as shoes go, I did not want to wear a pair of heels higher than 3 inches. I figured it would be a long day, and I would be standing majority of the time. I brought a pair of Anne Klein shoes from Macy’s for about $60. Super cheap! I will upload a picture sometime this week of a full picture of my outfit.
2. How did you wear your hair and makeup?
My hair was completely accidental for my video interview but turned out super cute and easy. I started with my naturally curly wet hair, parted it down the middle and flat twisted two sections in the front until it reached the middle back of my head. From there I just rolled and tucked my hair that was hanging and left a few curls out. As far as makeup goes, I really didn't do much. I just want to take a minute to thank my abuelita for forcing me to drink water everyday and my family’s good genes. lol. The MOST I did was the lipstick which is a mix of colors. My lipliner is CURRANT from Mac. I just used that to add definition to my lip. The lipstick is RED LIZARD from Nars. I added a bit of highlighter for a glow, mascara and a winged eyeliner. I had to be at the airport at 7AM so because I kept my beauty routine easy..I was able to sleep in until 5:30 #YAS.
3. Can you tell us about the interview. What questions should I ask?
Because I signed a confidentiality agreement to save the integrity of the company, I can't really share the questions. But I will say..BE YOURSELF! I cannot stress that enough..please, BE YOURSELF. When it comes to interacting with HR and the FA’s strike up a genuine conversation. Its not like speed dating where you have 3 mins to talk about yourself and qualifications. I’ll be the first one to admit, I’m awkward lol. I’m super outgoing when I am in a familiar setting. Obviously during the interview I’m hours away from home and I did not know anyone. What I did to make myself comfortable was buddy up with someone and piggy backed off of their conversation. For example, I heard a FA talk about Seattle which is where she is based, but I didn’t hear the full conversation. All I hear was 6 months of good weather. So when it was my turn to talk, I said “ I’m sorry, 6 months of good weather?!?! Where is that and when is the next flight out?” From there we spoke about our interest and things to do in Seattle. As questions about the company, why did they want to work for the airline? What is their favorite part about the job? Etc. Please do not be THAT GUY who ask about benefits. Also, give others a chance to ask questions. And this is personal lol. One female in my group asked like 10,000 questions. I was the last to ask a question and was a little frustrated at that.
4. I heard they only hire young, skinny, and attractive people. Is that true?
I will be the first to say that I am no where near being skinny. I’m 5′9 and I wear a size 8. I’m curvy..in a good way. I’ve seen plus size flight attendants before and I’ve been on several flight during my 23 years on this earth. I have met over 40 people so far who have received a CJO with me. And to be honest..I large percentage are in the over 40 crowd..with kids..and married. About 10% of us are under 25. As far as attractiveness goes...I think everyone I have met so far is attractive. I mean we are normal people..don’t expect to only be hired if you look like America’s Next Top Model. I’m really not the type to judge people’s looks. I feel like everyone is attractive in their own way. So with that being said..as long as you look presentable, I feel like you have a chance. :)
