Ow my heart
"Grace Rocky save stars" and Rocky's whole speech pattern reminded me of Floor from Guardians 3 and whenever Rocky was panicking I kept thinking about "Rocket, Teefs, Floor, go now!" :/
For my friend @coincidentalscribbles!
Based on a hilarious scene from his fanfic "It Really Sucks to Have Friends" over on AO3
I drew Lylla and Floor 🦦🐇
Will draw Rocket and Teefs soon
Lylla (My take):
Gender: Female
Pronouns: She/Her
Age: Adult
Species: Otter
She is married to Rocket and has a daughter named Skye.
Floor (My take):
Gender: Demigirl
Pronouns: She/They
Age: Unknown
Species: Rabbit
She doesn't know what the word "fuck" means, so everyone is not allowed to say "fuck" in front of her.
This scene from the first movie is so much more emotional after watching the 3rd one. Notice how Rocket flinches for a split second when Drax pets him? It probably was the first physical affection he has received ever since the hug Lyla gave him, before she was shot dead. With all the aggression and roughness he has build up as self protection, nobody ever dared touch him and this is the first time he has opened up, letting his true emotions show and being vulnerable. And instead of laughing about him like the high evolutionary did after (supposedly this time) losing a friend, no, Drax goes up to him and comforts him. It must have been this moment for Rocket where he realized, that these people genuinely cared for him and he could trust them
i cant stress enough how much i would die for floor guardians of the galaxy
she's very beautiful and i love her
What if Floor had lived?
Not that I’ve been rotating Batch 89 in my brain like last night’s dinner in the microwave since GOTG 3 came out, but what if Rocket had managed to get just one of his friends to safety that day? Just one? And since poor Lylla was already gone and poor Teefs didn’t stand a chance once the bullets started flying, I can only imagine a shivering little Floor lifting her head up when the noises stop to ask him in a small voice if they can go now, please please please Rocket Floor go NOW.
And they do. Rocket, devastated and so, so relieved, grabs the last fragment of his shattered dream and runs, down the hall and into a ship and out, away, into the sky he’d promised her. It’s all wrong—they should be together for this, all of them escaping together—but despite the blood on their fur and the screams in their ears and the crushing embrace they don’t release even as they sail into the stars, Rocket knows that fate has just been kind. He knows how close he just came to losing everything, to being all alone.
So he makes a vow, then and there: he swears that Floor will never, ever come to harm. He promises to protect her, to keep her happy and safe, to make sure she gets to enjoy the life his recklessness almost cost her. It’ll be the two of them against the universe, a pair of freaks with a home only in each other, but so what? What more do they need, really, than each other? What more does he need to survive this gaping wound in his soul than his final friend beside him?
And so they fly off together, into the unknown. They find a planet, and another, and another, hopping from one scavenged meal to the next. They fly and they learn and they survive; they adapt and they build and maybe they earn themselves a bit of a reputation with all the theft they have to resort to, but that doesn’t matter because throughout it all, they have each other, and together they find their way.
And who knows? Maybe someday soon, a little group of maniacs and a-holes will show them that they don’t have to be so alone.
