While my final post is going around, I thought'd it be cool to post the map with all of the flags together. If anyone knows how I could make this in a poster for all of you, letme know because it'd be something really cool to have.
That's it! That's flags for all 67 counties in Florida. Was it worth it? Maybe. But if the governor emails me about using all of them(not just one, fuck that). I'll be posting a few more things here and there if I finish them. But thank you every one who liked, reblogged, and followed this project because I learned a hell of a lot more about Florida doing thisthing.
I see patterns and colors that inspire me to design flags. This last set of 4 is prime examples of this cause I ran out of counties and had to invent stuff these counties would be known for because man, there wasn't much. Walton county is on the Gulf, and has the highest point in Florida. I did sunset colors found from the Astros' "Tequilla Sunrise" jerseys, and put it in a chevron to represent Britton Hill, Florida's highest point(which is only 345 feet).
"I could probably put plaid on a flag". AND LOOK! I just needed to do something with it. The county south of Leon didn't have much except rivers and a bunch of Spanish forts. That explians the colors of the flag, and the fort shape that's above the disecting rivers.
This project is SO CLOSE to being done you guys. 9 of 10 rows, and row 10 is just 4 flags! We'll be done by this weekend!
I really thought this county was named after the Union in the Civil War, because counties are named after things that they don't have relation to a lot. I wanted to try to show unity in this flag. I saw the flag of Venray, Holland and loved how it all came together. I decided to put a U shaped crest in the middle, with 3 stars for the 3 towns in Union County. The colors are the ones used by Lauderhill, Forida's city flag.
One thing I wont miss about this project is making flags for counties that don't have anything in them. I know Taylor county for 2 reasons, it's my last name, and there's a confederate flag flying over a youth sports complex that I see when I drive home from Tallahassee. The county is named after Zachary Taylor, the 12th president, shown by 12 stars. County seat Perry is named after the 4th governer of Florida, shown by 4 stripes. I wanted to use a Latvian marroon, and paired it with orange. So that's the color choice!
