Our weekend update. No new blog as we are visiting family in the key whom were and continue to be effect by Hurricane Irma. #blog #blogger #largefamily #floridakeysstrong #hurricaneirma
This morning my Dad sent me a picture of our view of the Atlantic from our house on Coco Plum Beach post Irma.
The Florida Keys are one badass group of islands. They are tough and resilient and they can recover from anything. They are my inspiration.
Back in 2005 when they were hit with hurricane Wilma I thought they would never recover and in a way they really never were the same. All the fruit trees have gone and haven’t come back. Lots of people vacated. We lost our favorite restaurants and stores and they never returned.
Kind of like how I’ll never be quite the same after cancer and treatment but I’m still standing.ill still be standing no matter what life throws at me. The Florida Keys and I might be small and fragile but we are tough and badass. Cat 4 hurricanes and stage 4 cancer has nothing on us.
On Wednesday, September 20, 2017, a semi from Teamsters Local 25 Union arrived at Crowley (Port Everglades-Fort Lauderdale, FL). The semi was full of generous donations for Irma relief. Due to the logistics in delivering the donations to the Florida Keys, the donations needed to be received then unloaded and then reloaded into two 20 foot containers. We would like thank Crowley for their partnership in the use of their facility, equipment, drivers and all employees that worked to transfer the donations. This was a key part in facilitating the disbursement of the donations that will be delivered to the Florida Keys next week. It was a very successful group effort and greatly appreciated. #KeysRecovery #Floridakeysstrong
