Some other day.....
Cinderella manged to live through meeting Jet somehow. Her boring answers to everything pretty much caused Jet to leave her alone and he got side tracked with other things. Jet had a simple but important talk with Flotsam though. It wasn’t going to work out how Flotsam wished it would. Plain and simply put, Jet hated Cinderella. She didn’t impress him one bit. She wasn’t funny. She wasn’t cool in any manner or interesting. She was retarded to the point of not even getting jokes much less completely unresponsive to any stimulus that normal people reacted to. Normally if someone was different Jet would be attracted to that. But, this was a yawn worthy falling asleep kind of not normal that bored the everlasting crap out of him and for a boy like Jet who lived a high and exciting rough and rebel life, this would clearly never do. Flotsam understood. Flotsam himself was a little disappointed in how Cinderella handled meeting his brother. This was the single most important person in his life and she just....
Well she didn’t do anything.
He wanted her to be excited. He wanted her to see how wonderful Jet was because in Flo’s eyes he was absolutely everything. And she sat there barely speaking with some weird smiles on her face as if trying not to start trouble and holding back her tongue as if dealing with Jet was like dealing with one of her ugly step sisters. Except Jet was gorgeous. He wanted to see Cinderella’s face light up but mostly there was just raw feelings in the air that allowed for nothing to happen. Jet clearly wanted to murder her and couldn’t due to this baby thing and as much as Flo loved seeing Jet on a murderous rampage because of all the passion he put behind it, The raw energy fell flat and it almost felt mean. It was just mean to put his brother in such a position to hold back on Cinderella. It wasn’t fair and it made Flotsam sad. It was especially sad that if Jet couldn’t physically harm Cinderella or fuck with her in any physical way due to that damn baby AND she wouldn’t even give him responses to his verbal hits whether it was some form of reverse psychology trying to get the bully to leave her alone or whether it really was because she was so retarded she couldn’t get the snide jokes hurled her way - either way - it left the love of Flo’s life empty handed and Flo couldn’t handle Jet’s disappointment. It was bad enough he was putting Jet through this, but forcing him into a position with a girl with lack of response? That was like... Hell. No. It wasn’t. Hell would at least have been an interesting place to explore. All the fire and brimstone. This was more like leaving his brother in Limbo where absolutely NOTHING happened and was far more a Hell to a lively pair like Flotsam and Jetsam than anything. These were both boys who needed real stimuli and the mediocre would never do.
So, Flotsam had changed his mind and made the decision not to take Cinderella to the house boat after all. That was him and Jet’s home now and as much as Flo wished it would have worked out differently and having one more person on board wouldn’t be a big deal, it was. He promised Jet not take her there so they’d have a special place all their own. Then he told Jet that when the kid was born and if the decision was made to kill Cinderella, he would gladly let Jet do it and to promised to help him make it as slow and torturous as possible if Cinderella was the cause of one more night where Jet had to make Flo feel better about things. That was Jet’s biggest beef with that dumb girl. She kept finding ways to make Flo sad and frankly Jet wanted to put an end to that now.
So, now that Jet / Flo was living in their own place and Cinderella seemed to be staying at their Mamma’s place for safety purposes for now Flotsam had come back to visit Cinderella (as he did often) to check on her and the baby. He was feeling particularly depressed on this day as he entered the door. He never showed it around Jet though. He was making sure he always went home to the boat house like everything was fine so that Jet wouldn’t interpret that Cinderella making him sad again. But, the plain truth was Flotsam wasn’t happy. He’d been sitting in on many meetings with voodoists and his mother and witches from coven had been dealing out a very dirty hand and there had been a big rise of attacks on his people lately. So between the seriousness of that and the rift between him and Jet and then trying to split his time up between them both, it was leaving Flo’s heart pretty heavy. Cinderella was the girl that stayed with him through absolutely everything with his brother, his death, his coming back. All the crazy feelings inbetween and this was something Flo admittedly loved, that security, it was another safe feeling in his life, something he believed he could depend on. But, slowly but surely he was starting to wonder if it was all just in passing. Maybe it didn’t mean more than he had a friend he knocked up after all? He wanted it to be more but the more depressed he got the more he walked around like one of his mother’s zombies like he couldn’t feel anything at all.
He showed up on this day dressed in his usual rock boy attire and big heavy boots and sat down in his old bedroom next to Cinderella on his old bed. He didn’t even say hello. He stared at the wall for a moment before slipping his arms around her middle and pulled her with him to lie down. He wasn’t sure what to say anymore. Everything seemed so wrong and Flo just wanted to be happy. He put his nose against her cheek and his hand on her belly and just snugged up, quiet. It was like that. He felt like he was losing everything so he just laid down and held onto what he had for now. He never said anything to her for longest time until finally he simply whispered, “How’s the kid cooking in there? And has Pain caused Mamma any trouble?” He spoke of course of the cat he’d brought home for Cinderella in hopes of brightening up her day before. But, it seemed even that just turned out wrong too. Nothing he did seemed to work out anymore.
