On this day 7 years ago, I went to my first concert ever and saw @flyleafmusic live at the #HouseOfBlues in West Hollywood, California. . . It was part of the Unite and Fight Tour and this was actually the Second Leg of the tour. I missed the first time they came to California, in Anaheim, but was so grateful and excited that I had a chance to see them live. . . On that day, I left school early and my mother drove me to Los Angeles. I waited in line for about two hours before the doors opened, and ended getting really close to the stage. It was my first time at a concert, the first time in a mosh pit, and the first time meeting complete strangers who later turned out to be really great friends. . . Flyleaf played most of their songs off of Memento Mori, their second album, and all the greatest hits off their debut self titled album. Lacey Sturm gave a speech right before their song Arise, about how we were all created for a purpose, that only we can achieve the way that we can achieve it, about reaching the highest height that we were made for. . . After the concert ended, I waited outside the venue for my ride. And to my surprise, Lacey came outside to greet some of the fans that were still lingering around. I was able to get her autograph, speak with her, and give her a hug. She showed that she is honestly one of the most humble, caring, and thoughtful person that I’ve ever met. . . This began a journey with a band which I absolutely loved. This journey took me to places I never been before, seen amazing live shows and concerts, and the opportunity to meet some great people, including the band members themselves. . . And for all they have done in music, and how much of a positive impact they have had in my life, I am grateful. Thank you so much @professorbombay @katandjared @ilovejoshsturm @the_wooden_room @patseals for your time in #Flyleaf. I cannot tell you how much your music means to me, and how amazing it was to be a part of the #FlyleafFamily. And thank you @iamkristenmay for your time in Flyleaf too, a period in which your passion kept the fire alive. . . Although Flyleaf’s time has come to an end, the future is always yet to be written. 💙 (at House Of Blues West Hollywood California)
