After getting feedback not to use a space frame construction for the outer shell I decided to find a solution with concrete and sat down for a tutorial with Luciano, our module convenor. We discussed the possibilities and agreed on proposing a waffle slab style concrete shell, that is infilled with foam blocks. This will provide the scheme with a lightweight concrete structure that can span fairly long distances. This way, a clamp-style assembly member can be proposed to secure sticks to the shell and provide stability. Luciano also suggests that the chainmail mesh can get attached onto the shell and secured all around by tubes and tension members that provide regular maintenance possibility.
