In honour of the first day of the World Cup, I thought I would start to post some of the best pictures from my recent trip to Brazil. I'll post a couple of pictures a day and have hundreds more to share so be sure to check back for updates.
In April, my girlfriend Rebecca and I spent 3 weeks on a whirlwind tour of the state of Bahia in Brazil. We saw beaches, waterfalls, monkeys, caves, iguanas, the city of Salvador, and so much more. We flew down there so that I could finally meet her parents for the first time. They've lived in Brazil for 18 years so they were able to show us some amazing sights all of which I'll be sharing in this space over the next few weeks.
I knew I'd be taking lots of pictures so I decided to bring my Canon EOS Rebel T4i, My Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM, my Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II, and my Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II. Nothing fancy, but it kept me light on my feet for long days of hiking while providing me with the flexibility of a wide variety of focal lengths. I also picked up a 3Pod 5-Section Carbon Fiber Compact Tripod that was light as a feather yet sturdy enough for me to get some impressive waterfall and nighttime shots.
This beach was only about a ten minute walk from Rebecca's parents' condo. We woke up early a couple of mornings and went on nice long walks fueled by fresh fruit and fresher coffee. The beach was stunning and offered lots of nice landscape shots as well as the occasional critter. On the way there we would have to pass through a protected nature preserve. We would almost always see an iguana sunning itself in a tree or the nearby family of monkeys who just had a baby!
I'm about two and a half weeks in to an amazing trip to Brazil, visiting my girlfriend's parents. I've been treated to some amazing sights and am having the time of my life. We just got to Morro De São Paulo yesterday - Brazil's tropical island paradise. Luckily I just switched over to a micro sd card before we got here and was able to convert some raw files using my phone. These pictures haven't been edited yet so they are just a small sample of the thousands of pictures I've been taking and will eventually be sharing in this space. Stay tuned :-)
