"What?" John looked over in confusion. "Sorry, I don't know who that is. I'm John. John Thompson." He introduced himself, still confused with the woman's comment. He had an odd feeling being around her, but decided to ignore it.

Beneath The Surface // storiesofamelia

The thunder crash outside jerked him awake, his eyes darting around the room before a flash of lightning gave him the answer. He wrapped his blanket around his shoulders and hobbled out of bed. It was pitch black outside except for the occasional flash of sheet lightning. A powerful storm. He loved storms, he loved the pitter patter of rain on the roof and the comfort of a warm blanket by a fire. Topped off with a toasty hot chocolate.

But it was 5:15 according to his clock. Too early for a hot chocolate by the fire without waking Amy up. Never wake a ginger before at least seven o’clock. He’d learnt that one pretty quickly. To be fair, he wasn’t that great at mornings either. What his body clock prefered, he didn’t know. It would very much like to be awake for a few days at then sleep for another. But that wasn’t reasonable. 

So instead it fluctuated and he’d learnt to stumble around in the day time and work long through the night. Quietly. Very quietly. But that was the good thing about an attic bedroom, lots of room and a decent amount of distance. He’d made it quite homey. Soft bed with lots of pillows and blankets. A little reading nook, huge desk for all his projects. Several rugs acted as a cheap, replaceable carpet, which was very much needed. He’d even been thinking of getting little starry lights to decorate the ceiling. 

Which would be better than his supanova of a lamp. 

Of course the room was a total mess, but he prefered to think of it as organized chaos. 

Yawning, John donned a fluffy, purple dressing gown and a torch and crept downstairs. He could at least take a bottle of water from the fridge without waking her up, if the storm hadn’t already. And it hadn’t appeared to, there was a notable abscence of red hair in the ktichen. As he removed a bottle of water from the fridge, the lightning flashed again, illuminating what appeared to be a figure outside a window. With another flash it was gone.

Rubbing his eyes and hoping it had just been a trick of the light, the young man hurried upstairs.

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!

John turned and threw a pillow at the wall. When that didn’t work, he threw a thick heat bag. Clara and her horrible wake up call. He buried himself beneath a nest of purple sheets and blankets and tried to drown it out. He could hear her moving about in the next room, obviously she had no regard for his sleeping habits, however lacking they may be. 

Finally he couldn’t take it anymore and rolled out of bed. His room was on the medium side which suited him just fine. He had a double bed with as many blankets and pillows as he wanted. He’d painted a mural of a spiral galaxy across a wall and the ceiling.

The floor was covered in clothes and broken bits of machinery. As was the desk, with the added bonus of toys in need of repair and science experiements. The landlord here probably would have a field day with him, but he’d just pile everything into the chest at the end of his bed or under a blanket on his arm chair and then job done. 

He removed a blue dressing gown from the chair and slung it over his shoulders before wobbling out. He collasped over the side of the chair and lay there with his face buried in the green cushions. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and he hated it.

“You’re up too early, it’s horrible. Should be illegal.” His voice was muffled through the cushion.

Occupation: Children's Entertainer.

• Football. (soccer for americans and fellow aussies)

• Jammy Dodgers • Cats • Ginger beer • Spinning

• Roses  • Gingers  • Hats  • His motorbike

Dislikes: 

• Wine  • Baked beans, apples, yogurt  • Violence

• Being dizzy  • Being ignored  • Being called "Doc"

• Especially the phrase "What's up Doc?"  

Quirks: Tends to get migraines but doctors can't figure out a reason why. Can't dance but loves to dance. Makes inventions that aren't really very useful inititally but find uses later in the strangest of places. Snores. Is really an overgrown puppy. Wears glasses but eyesight is perfect. Deceptively intelligent. Very clumsy.  Terrible fashion sense. 

Other things: Has a room filled with broken toys that he fixes for kids and keeps the ones they don't want anymore to give to others. (or to play with). Has a iphone with a giraffe case. Has a blog called Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast. (because i'm me I'll probably end up designing this too...)

(I was gonna pick an ordinary one but couldn't resist this. His companion can buy it for him. The ring tone is the tardis noise)
