Well, sometimes we all dream about a getaway, out of the city rush, a daily-life routine - a getaway to nature, to recharge our “batteries”. This fall I had the chance to get over greatest getaway I can imagine - in Swedish woods, over lake Immeln in autumn coloured countryside in one special “cottage” - if I can even call it so. It's a shelter designed by Danish design company VIPP well known because of their iconic & ageless and long lasting pedal bins.
This shelter is far away from an ordinary shelter - Black from the outside, black from the inside with spectacular view on blue shining lake and fully furnished in luxury and minimalistic style. 55 sqm of simple functional space in the highest quality with emphasis on the connection with nature is all you need for amazing experience and absolute “mind shower”.
VIPP Shelter is liveable steel object in the middle of original Swedish nature. As soon as you open the door you are going to be impressed (I start being impressed even before we park the car ;) ) - the two grey felt covered walls, 2 big windows and grey concrete floor are creating surprisingly perfect coziness and warming feeling although it might sounds ironical.
In the middle of the Shelter is located big fireplace. Just imagine - slightly dancing leaves in the wind, water level is shining like pearls under reflections from sun and while you are watch this beautiful natural picture you hear only calming melody of burning wood. These days spent in VIPP Shelter was for me all about enjoying simple little things, admire beautiful nature and also admire well crafted design.
VIPP Shelter is fully furnished with VIPP design products - from fully furnished kitchen including details like lids for spaghetti, chairs, lighting, or to bathroom bin :) You will find there all kitchen equipment to enjoy a cooking in this nest place.
While enjoying a Fika time in the Shelter I was asking myself a lot of questions regarding my own feelings and life phylosophy. I was feeling during whole time spent there absolutely great. From the first moment I felt like in home there. The design-infused interior of Shelter is made to bring you only things which you need and are making you happy. There is nothing what wouldn't have exact function. In the kitchen is space for everything and everything can be neatly organised, in the lounge zone are 2 chairs and library with design books, that's all. Suddenly when I realised that I'm not surrounded with things I start asking myself, what exactly do I need in my ordinary life in my home.
Waking up under clear skies only with a birdsong was amazing experience! In the comfiest bedding after well sleep night we woke up to bright morning. Trough the glass ceiling we were enjoying the feeling like we would woke up outside.
VIPP Shelter is a place where I didn't feel any rush of a daily life. After wake up I always love to spent some extra time in the bed - especially when it's such a comfy nest! I made a cup of coffee, bring a magazine back to the bed and enjoyed this well spent time of doing nothing! Suddenly there comes a rain. Leaves start slowly falling on the glass ceiling and rain drops created mono-thematic melody. I couldn't wish for more beautiful morning!
We were sitting over the lake and watching the pinky coloured skies till sun set. When night get darker my boyfriend set fire in the fireplace, in the fridge away us a bottle of champagne which was left there for us and I cooked quick dinner (By the way, I cooked our favourite spaghetti and from that time I have like non stop hunger for Spaghetti :D ).
Sometimes in situations like this you realise how valuable is time spent just be talking to each other or caring about your inner you by reading some inspirational book. It was the night when there was no need of phone or TV!

I guess we all have some favourite style, favourite shapes, favourite colours in meaning of decorations for our home but what I love about design is the wide diversity, the game of shapes, curves, simple lines, diversity of colors and final result - how you feel about the product when you have it in your home. What kind of feeling you have when you are sitting on sofa and see shinning light on your walls? On your vase?
Well, it all depends on our mood, current feeling, sometimes we are influenced by current trends, but then there are pieces which you love forever - my forever love design piece is finally home and how do I feel about it? When I sat on my sofa, see the sun-filled room and over me is sun reflecting duck shape piece of art? :)
Yes, I am talking - or rather say writing - about HK Pitcher from kitchen of Georg Jensen. It's one of the most iconic pieces from their production made of mirror polished stainless steel. Pitcher was for the first time formed by master designer Henning Koppel in 1952. In my eyes it's piece connecting elegance and extravagance in the same time. Celebrating excellent craftsmanship and influenced the signature look of Georg Jensen. This pitcher was launched in 2008 as a celebration of Henning Koppel's 90th birthday and I'm always happy to see “my duck” shinning over our TV table and enjoying the feeling from it in our space.
Nezvyknem písavať o ľuďoch ale dnes som si same sebe povedala, že prečo vlastne nie? Tak prečo nie! ;)
Rada by som týchto pár riadkov venovala tvorbe Alvara Aalta, Fínskemu velikánovi v modernej architektúre a dizajne. Aalto by dnes oslávil svoje 120 narodeniny a dodnes je to naslávnejší fínsky architek vôbec. Od roku 1921 kedy získal diplom artchitekta (v Helsinkách) jeho kariera začala a s tým aj začal meniť naše ponímanie na dizajn ako ho vnímame dnes.
Aalto veril, že dobrý dizajn by mal byť súčasťou nášho každodenného života a to aj krásne premietol do svojích diel.
Aalto je známi vďaka unikátnym aestetickým tvarom s ktorými spôsobil doslova revolúciu. Tvary a prírodne materiali ktoré spájal či už pri tvorbe dekorácií, nábitku alebo budov boli výrazne odlišné od tedajšieho dizajnu.
Zo svojích stavieb ho najviac preslávilo sanatórium pre liečbu tuberkulózi v meste Paimio, Fínsko. V roku 1929 Alvar a Aina Aalto (jeho prvá žena) vyhrali konkurz na výstavbu tejto budovy. Obaja sa snažili budovu navrhnúť tak, aby bola funkčná a napomáhala pacientom k rýchlejšiemu uzdravovaciemu procesu.
Čo sa tíka dekorácií, dnes je pre nás asi najznámejšie z jeho dieľ ikonická séria váz Savoy ktorá je inšpirovaná vlnami vody a stala sa značkou moderného Škandinávskeho dizajnu. Celá séria sa dodnes vyrába v Iittala sklenárskej továrni vo Fínsku a každá jedna váza je unikátna nakoľko sa stále vyrába tradičným spôsobom - fúkaním skla.
Alvar Aalto je známi tým, že svoje budovy vkladal do prírody a vytváral tak celok, ktorý vždy dokonale ladil. Architektúra, lokalita, technológia a človek - to všetko muselo byť v dokonalej harmónií. Žiaden malý detail pre neho nebol malý a Aalto sa zaoberal aj maličkosťami ako dizajn klučky na dverách jeho budov. Všetko od výhľadu až po sklenenú vázu na stole v obývačke dôkladne zvažoval a veľmi starostlivo vyberal.

If you are still not sure, if you would choose “correct” gift, then just catch a small plant! Green plants are creating cosines and calm space! Choose less difficult plant which is ideal for not too much light and not too much dark, because you never know where the gifted one is going to place it and so you will not limit him or her with extra conditions of the plant :)

Our beloved collection Taika (meaning “magic” in Finnish) is just celebrating 10th anniversary, yay!!! The collection has been designed by Klaus Haapaniem in more variants and colours from simply white & black plates to blue and red cups, textiles etc. and this anniversary collection is great celebrating of colours and shapes and it's coming and rich symbolic Taika patterns. Symbolic flower motifs and the familiar owl character with spread wings are of course not missing there!
How do you like it? I need to honestly say, that I am totally obsessed with it and it's already on my wishilst! <3

It's been a few days after IKEA's Democratic Design Day 2017 and everybody who had eyes focused on this great event deduced for launching new products, collections etc. was more than happy by the great news and so that 2 of our fav Scandinavian brands IKEA and Danish HAY connected together and created collection YPPERLIG collection.
According to IKEA, these items are “brave but will age well.” YPPERLIG will launch in stores in October of this year and I can't wait for it, yay! <3
From vases, sofas, through cushions and candleholders, to shelving and stools, the collection combines technical innovation with simple, pared-back design. The pieces are minimalistic, while dominant is silhouette and form.
