The third installment of the folklorian trilogy arrived in the form of Taylor Swift’s 10th studio album: seashore, on March 19th in the middle of her album release cycle for Fearless (Taylor’s Version), a re-recording in hopes to reclaim the masters for her past work. The unexpected third installment of the trilogy was dropped with only thirteen hours of notice, along with a music video for the song intertwined souls which begins where willow ended, illustrating Taylor and her lover being so deeply intrinsically in love as if they were born for each other. The music video is one of Swift’s most epic portals of love, with vivid and intricate lyrics to match, proving to be deeply heartfelt and making itself one of Swift’s best love songs to date. Seashore brings imagery of the ocean as the salt air creeps into your nose from the tears that Swift pulls from the listener with the devastating augustine which further delves into the original folklore love triangle and showcases the pain that augustine felt to “give everything she had to a boy who changed his mind” in the words of Swift’s own Fifteen (listen to Taylor’s Version on April 9th). In scars i gave him Swift details a relationship that has hurt both parties but is worth it in the end regardless of the amount of pain they cause each other. Thirteen thousand feet down is one of the hardest hitting songs on the album describing the feeling of feeling like you are drowning and no matter how hard you try you cannot reach the surface. The album ends on a hopeful note with iridescent with Swift going toward the light and exiting the folklorian woods in which she escaped during quarantine.
