Last October, I got the pleasure of getting up close and personal with a Junonia coenia, also known as the common buckeye butterfly. It was an amazing experience- I have never seen a butterfly calm or trusting of a human enough to get this close without fluttering away- but this one just hung out with me for hours. Nature can be SO beautiful yet, so magical. These butterflies usually reside in Mexico, but one stopped by my front porch last October (in Kansas) and today I used those photos as reference to create this peice ! ❤️
