What we learned this week

Alabama is back and they are the best team in the country. If you want to accuse me of being a homer... well I had them below their AP position all year including the preseason so I think I get some credit here. Look at this (note the total yardage allowed is a program record for Florida... in a bad way) Alabama Score: 42 Total Yards: 645

Florida Score: 21 Yards: 200 That's it right there. Thats what you need to know about this game, this Alabama team, this SEC race, and this college football season Oh and for good measure West Virginia put the hurt on Oklahoma in a sad loss actually outgaining the #4 team in the country. The ability to run gave Okahoma the turnover margin and the win so yes the better team won, but Bama looks ungodly good. Also Relevant Florida State is bad on the line. Both sides of it. Notre Dame really should get the win in this one, Stanford at home is more a threat. Oh and the ACC Coastal is anyone's game where there's no dominant team. Nobody. Virginia might win it. Texas A&M can play defense if the opponent is horrendous.Auburn is not the best team in the country very likely. LSU neither but Mississippi State should be considered a longshot for that title. And Mizzou and South Carolina aren't very good but the SEC West is likely the best division in college football history. The Big 12 is a 4 horse race right now with the obvious 4 horses, Baylor Oklahoma, Kansas State and TCU. If Washington could play two halves of football week in and week out they could win this wide open (yeah I said it) PAC North. But they won't and the division might just hand the title to an overrated Oregon. East Carolina will represent the Group of 5 and do admirably in January. This isn't yet guaranteed by any measure but doesn't it seem likely? BYU might actually end up with some strength of schedule and a big game to finish the year against Cal but they will need better final scores to impress voters.
