Let go....
Once i've tried my best i move on gracefully. Just know you'll never get that same me again. & one thing i don't do is dwell....

My Best Friend
I have taken to sitting on purple mouse every time the humans are near. Just at night, though, when they are most likely to kidnap him and hide him until the morning.
Poor purple mouse... he's my greatest companion in this apartment, he keeps me company while the humans are gone or otherwise preoccupied...
I have hope that I may be able to spend my nights playing with him again, as the male has recently returned home with an injured hand. This now makes me the stronger opponent.
The "New" Baby
I overheard the humans tonight, they spoke of spending less time with me to get me "accustomed" to the arrival of their kitten. I am not naïve, I am aware that kittens need special attention. I do not see why this needs to impact the amount of cuddle time spent with my humans... Rather, I see the new youngling bringing me more warmth, and cuddles. If I am ever allowed near it.
My new plan of attack has been working well. I've really been turning up the charm. Even for the male. Whenever they are still, I cuddle them. Whenever they use their litter room, I accompany them, to be sure they don't fall into their water-operated litter box (as I have many a time). Instead of my usual licking, I have turned to a more intense show of affection, the nibble. I'm not sure that they appreciate the nibble, though.
I am determined to remain the best, in their eyes. Out with the old, in with the new?
NO.
STILL LOVE THE OLD. And maybe the new.
