A look behind the scenes of #TheMinersHymns...
With all this excitement about upcoming live performances and cinema screenings of The Miners' Hymns, it seems appropriate to indulge in this beautiful look behind the scenes with SpectreVision at rehearsals for a performance in Belgium with Jóhann Jóhannsson.
In November we made a special announcement about live performances of #TheMinersHymns to take place in the UK - the first such performances since 2010 - which includes a London premiere at Barbican.
This first-time collaboration between American filmmaker Bill Morrison and Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson was initiated by Forma. We produced The Miners’ Hymns for the BRASS: Durham International Festival 2010, premiering the piece in two highly acclaimed live concert performances in Durham Cathedral.
The cinema version of the film was released in 2011, and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York before receiving its UK premiere at the Sheffield Documentary Film Festival. This cinema tour continues with seven more from January 23rd 2014, including a performance at Eden Court, Inverness tonight.
We're incredibly proud to present three live performances in March 2014, the first date sees Jóhann Jóhannsson and Bill Morrison return to the North East of England. A specially-assembled brass ensemble featuring Iskra String Quartet will performa at Sage Gateshead in association with AV Festival 14: Extraction.
The feature for our next Newsletter, which you can sign up to here, will be a look forward to February's live performances in the United States with ACME and Ryan McAdams.
