“There are maybes enough to fill half the graves in
Kirkwall, Guard-Captain! I will not add more to the pile.”
An irate display follows Meredith’s words, a hand slamming down on the thick oak wood of her desk, a few scrolls falling to the floor with the force. Her piercing stare does not leave Aveline’s, finally pushing herself to an upright stature behind her desk.
« And some certainly do not shy away from acting. »
His eyes were fixed on the other Templars that had been stationed inside the Viscount’s Keep, standing by stairs and columns in the place of the guards that had once served Dumar. There was no sitting Viscount at the moment, Seneschal Bran was only a provisional substitute, and that was the only excuse Meredith needed to place men of the Order where they shouldn’t be allowed to be.
Her guards, now. As if she were Viscount, herself (from a certain point of view, she nearly was.)
Thrask didn’t approve. Even if he was among those taking over another group’s duty, in that specific day, he didn’t approve. The slight frown and tight pressing of lips was a clear enough proof of it. He turned to glance at the Guard Captain and felt some pity for the position she had found herself in --- but also did feel some pity for those who tried to force her to comply with their whims, those who thought that her presence was now redundant or that her authority could be bypassed. Some pity, but not much.
He crossed his arms over his emblazoned breastplate and turned towards Captain Vallen. He certainly had learnt much about commitment in the last few years. It was, undoubtedly, more than standing aside; more than keeping his conscience clear. Commitment was an act, and there was more truth in that than he might have admitted not too many years ago.
« If I can ask something of you, Captain », he said, his soothing voice lowered to not let the echo of the high ceilings bring his words to prying ears, « if you let my brethren act too freely inside here, my superiors might start assuming that they are, in fact, free to do what they want. But this should not concern the Order. It is not our job. » A sour note embittered his tone. Inside his gauntlet, the grip of his fingers tightened around his arm. « I have had occasion to see that you are committed, Captain, and I hope--- you understand what I am telling you. Getting into details here would not be advisable. »
The only objectifying banter between them is when he inquires about the relic and she comments about his eyes and wearing them as a necklace. Which is less about her objectifying him and more about deflecting his curiosity. Her flirting isn’t rebuffed unless Fenris is in a relationship with Hawke. Otherwise he flirts (in his own way back) If neither Isabela or Fenris is romanced then they have a healthy(physical)relation. She offers him a spot on her crew and takes care of a tax collector.
THANK YOU for this because, seriously. isabela finds fenris attractive and she isn’t shy about saying so, but that is NOT objectification. she doesn’t treat him as a THING. they have plenty of banter between them that is just casual conversation and as you said a healthy physical relationship if neither of romance, but because she’s a sexual woman people paint her as a fiend and make it like shes incapable of anything beyond oohh~ ~~~sex~~~~ i have no depth beyond wanting to rub bodies together

While Merryn was working as a bodyguard (post Chantry explosion) did they ever consider settling somewhere other than Kirkwall? Does Merryn believe that their brother is alive? Do they harbor any resentment for the refugees that from Ferelden that led to overcrowding and their mother's death?
During the first six to nine months after leaving Kirkwall, Merryn never really considered ‘settling’ at all --- they figured they’d catch a sword or an arrow in the wrong place before they ever got far enough to think about settling. Even after, they’ve never bothered to spare much thought to anything beyond the next day, the next job; moving around isn’t always the easiest, but it’s safer that way for someone who prefers to be as invisible as possible. ‘Home’ is for people with money, with families, they’d tell you.
This one’s heavily verse-dependent, but in their ‘main’ verse, he’s alive but they believe him to be dead until partway through Inquisition’s timeline (I’ve yet to write it up, but Merryn’s personal quest as a companion revolves around their finding out that he’s alive). If asked, they’ll either refuse to answer entirely (to someone they don’t know/trust) or acknowledge that he could be, but they hope he isn’t.
Yes and no? Initially, they were incredibly angry --- they were only fourteen when Lillah died --- but over time that anger got redirected from the refugees to Kirkwall’s powers that be; Meredith especially, but also the Viscount and Grand Cleric Elthina. Merryn has a strong sense of justice and a good grasp of the chain of responsibility, so while they may lash out at the most convenient target in the immediate aftermath of an event, they’re not likely to hold long-term grudges against people who aren’t actually responsible.
Damned raiders. If he had been just a little more prepared, perhaps they wouldn’t have gotten the better of him and perhaps he wouldn’t have difficulty to even sit upright at this moment. “I’m fine, Aveline. Really. You can stop looking so worried.”
Does Emma ever think about the trapped soul that taught her the arcane warrior specialization? During the broken circle quest, was there anything (a part from everything) that made her specifically upset? Does she have plans for more tattoos?
|| Uuuuu these are so interesting. Thank you!
Emmailen rarely allows herself to think of the spirit who granted her the knowledge she so needed. She hoped they are at peace now, in a place where they were reunited with their kin and family. But if she stops to think, then she remembers, sees the vivid memories gifted to her by the spirit of things that once were - spiraling towers and crystal gleaming in the sun, magic as natural as breathing practiced everywhere, in plain sight, beauty and splendor - and regrets a world that she will never come to know. If she thinks about the spirit she is forced to remember how they had been trapped for so many centuries, how by the time the warden had found them memories had eroded, muddling together, splashes of images broken by the passage of time, to such a degree that the spirit could remember images, but not names, generalities, but not that which had made them one most joyful. She keeps herself from thinking about the spirit because it makes her feel sad. But she hopes to honor them each time she practices the specialization that was, in its purest of forms, lost to time.

The nightmares that haunt her the most - apart from darkspawn screeches and the promises of demons - are of the tower, crumbled to the ground, a mess of ash, stone and blood smoking where once had been the place she had spent a decade of her life. She hated Kinloch Hold - trapped, alone, away from Rilla and her gang - but she cared about those trapped inside the walls of the Tower. Each step she took, each puddle of blood, each dead mage or Templar, made her question if there would have been anything she could have done had she not been conscripted to the wardens, had she not helped Jowan, had she been there. However, it was Niall’s fate that saddened her the most, Niall that had always been a calm and peaceful presence in the Tower, who she had felt she could save, only to fail in the end.

Emmailen hopes to be able to ink another tattoo in the future, but its presence will be directly linked to the success of her quest. If she will be able to find a cure for the taint, to find a way to keep the Calling from claiming more good people, she plans on adding another tattoo beneath the one of eagle wings: a cage, with its door wide open, a key still left in its lock and a bird escaping, wings stretched towards freedom.
What is the most harrowing act of piracy Will has been a part of? If he wasn't a pirate, what occupation would he have? What is his favorite port city?
What is the most harrowing act of piracy Will has been a part of?
It was when he was just a rigger. Their Captain had been given the location of a pirate hunter ship and sent to dispose of it before they could disable any more pirate ships. They flew Ferelden colours, a flag stolen from a previous raid and managed to get close enough to begin an attack.
It was a well armed ship, but something felt off about the entire thing. They tried to flee, instead of face off against them.
The fight lasted three days before their enemy sunk to the bottom of the Amaranthine Ocean. It was only later that they discovered their captain had lied to them.
It had not been a pirate hunter at all, but a slave ship, on their way to trade off their cargo. They had killed innocent men and women and it was this act that begin to make them infamous.
If he wasn't a pirate, what occupation would he have?
I think he probably would have been caught for stealing, or something along those lines. Whatever it was, it would have resulted in him joining the Grey Wardens.
What is his favorite port city?
Antiva City. It’s a great place for Trade and he enjoys both the beautiful and deadly nature of the place.
