The Fox Equations
The 1st Fox equation. Although far from universally accepted, it is the most common of the Fox equations. It employs proof-by-repetition, as well as selective filtering and framing. Rarely stated openly, it is used as a background axiom for much news-anchor reasoning:
Islam = Terrorism; and Terrorism = Islam
(Both forms must be stated, since once balance is rejected, symmetry cannot be assumed...)
The 2nd Fox equation. This is not as well known, and generally rejected by Fox. But it must be maintained, since a parallel proof is as valid as in the first:
Christianity = Pedophilia; and Pedophilia = Christianity
An interesting phenomenon is how some Christians will accommodate the first equation, but fail to grasp the equivalent logic of the second.
The 3rd Fox equation. Some atheists are willing to accept the first two (and the corollaries for all other religions), but balk at the last. This is a pity, since the examples of Hitler, Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, and Pol Pot, are passable counter-examples to the thesis that all wars are the product of religion. They also prove the third law:
Atheism = Mass-Murder; and Mass-Murder = Atheism
So when you hear someone constructing an argument with the axiomatic 1st equation of Islam = Terrorism, don’t be fooled: remember the other two equations, and the prejudice that they all represent.
