Okay so now that the most recent page is out!!! I'm going to yap about this giant theory (and it might be a bit of a stretch but I donated like over an hour to it) that sprouted from the recent pages when I first read them on Patreon!! I rushed home today after the page came out to do this so uhh yeah! I've been exicited!

Basically, Mariner might be Sycamore's son... and then perhaps the King's son too?

I saw how... similar Mariner's mother and Sycamore looked in the recent pages and thought. Hm.

The yellow eyes, the shape of the cheek fur, the slicked-back hair, even their tails or the same. I thought it might just be coincidence. But. Sycamore has a son (with the king), Aster, Right? Well..

A few of Mariner's dead siblings have the long stripe that Aster has!!! HM! Hey why is there a brown kitten too, and a calico. And there's a spotted tabby? Where could that have possible came from. It's not like there's any spotted tabbies in wac, right? UNLESS-

Parents??? Mayhaps?

And Mariner even has a few similarities to the king- they both have white paws, chins, and a tail tip, both have (at least one) orange eye, and kind of round shapes. But then I thought... maybe they aren't being compared just because Lain projects the King onto Mariner.

But also, I looked at Mariner and Sycamore in the Taixu pmv...

Why would sycamore even be upset if it wasn't personal? In fact, even Mariner looks like it's personal. I'd imagine he'd hate her if he learned she abounded him as a kit

Hmmm both of their hair falls into place too.

AND?? Mariner crushes the same flowers that you drew her with in the art above. That can't be a coincidence.

Also, my theory about this scene is maybe something about Mariner taking the crown, not as in becoming leader, but becoming like the King? Maybe that's why Sycamore seems upset about it.

Also, this coulddd be Mariner learning about his origins. Maybe?

And from a writer's standpoint, I don't think this scene would be more than a page long, and so exaggerated too, unless it was somehow important. And blocking out the true appearance of Mariner's mother was also... slightly suspicious. Raising my eyebrows at you

Also, that big, strong, pointing hand/paw seems a little like the King. HMM!!! (Also, this ask seemed so close to this theory I have heheheh)

And HEY. LOOK. those same flowers showed up again. What are the odds???

Anyways, that's my huge and maybe crazy theory! I know you said that you have design preferences and some characters may just look similar and I took that into account but this felt like too big of a coincidence to ignore. And I kind of just realized that if this was true, Mariner and Lain would have the same mom... that's a little weird but whatever. It's all speculation!!!

HM INDEED! I won't confirm or deny any of this theory obviously, but I genuinely love stuff like this! Hope you're excited for this to be confirmed/denied in like. a very long time.

I like the turn the comic just took, it's interesting because I've never seen it done before, but I'm very intrigued! Are there any notable events we should take note of that happened during the timeskip?

That's a really good question! since I skipped ~28 moons, yes! Quite a bit did happen in that gap. Mostly kittens. I'll make a timeline below:

Moon 20: Schmidt has Lyrekit (Lyreseeker) and Stumpykit (Stumpychasm). Moon 22: Orangetooth and Trickletooth become mates. Sandwichfin joins the clan. Moon 24: Orangetooth and Trickletooth adopt Echokit(Echominnow) and Heatherkit(Heatherbark). Rapidpaw becomes Rapidfleck. Moon 27: Hailthrush adopts Sandkit(Sandfern), Hazelkit(Hazelbranch), and Shadekit(Shadepad). Moon 28: Spottedbird, Roseweb, Tuftbraamble, Mossyfern, and Minnowfur get their names. Sandwichfin has Pricklekit(Pricklejay) and Moorkit(Moorpaw). Moon 29: Coyoteburn dies(I never wrote down how). Ringo joins the clan. Moon 31: Almondsplash, Caterpillarspider, Whisperstem, Heatherwhisker, and Lilacwind get their full names. Pear joins the clan. Moon 34: Hailthrush and Skippelt have Oakkit, Brightkit, and Lightkit. Moon 37: Sandwichfin has Turtlekit. Pear dies(I once again did not write down how). Moon 38: Moorpaw is killed by SerpentClan. Moon 39: The Plague. Littlepath, Ringo, Ed, Auburnspeckle, Rapidfleck, Stumpychasm, Echominnow, and Heatherbark leave the clan. Orangetooth is chosen to be leader, Almondsplash as deputy. Moon 40: Sprucemurk and Caterpillarspider go missing. Scaleleaf joins the clan. Moon 41: Brightpaw is assigned as the medicine cat apprentice Moon 42: Trickletooth dies after getting bit by a snake. Moon 43: Scaleleeaf dies of greencough. Turtlepaw is also assigned as a medicine cat apprentice Moon 44: Snowykit and Burntkit are born to Cloudstripe and Hazelbranch. Moon 45: Gracklekit and Sleepykit are born to Stonestep and Lyreseeker. Moon 46: Skippelt dies of whitecough.

There's obviously stuff that happened in the cracks, but these are all of the big events. You can ask questions to any character mentioned here(in addition to Hollyhockghost or others that aren't mentioned but existed in the clan at some point).

I just stumbled upon this clangen and it looks cool so far, I love your art style! The comic feels adventurous but lighthearted at the same time :D (if that makes sense)

Out of curiosity, was Strikestar’s face scar designed to look like a star? And also, are the cats (aka just Strikestar) available for questions by chance?

Fade's actual age will be brought up in comic in the next moon, but I will say he's not as fall-apart old as he looks in his first appearance!

He just looks especially haggard right now because he's starving and has an infected wound stopping him from grooming properly c':

With Fade I have completely disregarded pretty much everything clangen gave me for him lolol

Fleet Fangs can be basically any colour except tawny, so that had to go. And I don't want any more white cats bc i have several already, so he became orange. And solid orange looked funky with his beard, so he grew spots cx

His full name is actually Jasminefade in the save, but there's no native jasmines in Pleistocene North America!

"But wait?" asks no one, "there aren't any lilacs native to North America either?" "Good point," I say, holding my car keys and backing out the door.

I can see why Scorch may be concerned about Fogstalker became a mediator (the previous mediator, Fog’s mother too, died doing her job), but I also think she would think it’s a good idea? She saw her work firsthand, even at a younger age and recently, Fogstalker was seen doing a very good mediating relationships. Maybe we’ll see some of her thoughts in the coming updates?

(Side note: Congrats to Fog and Slate, what the hay they were kits yesterday?? I’m so proud of themmmmm 😭 I’m also very excited to see the work Fogstalker does, I would also love her to be my therapist haha)
