Of course Asahi knew there was going to be a storm that day. But he didn’t think it was going to be that bad, which was why he even agreed to drive with Noya in the first place. But once the storm actually hit, he realized that it was way worse than he expected. Sky to ground lighting only miles away, thunder that shook the ground and wind that rocked the car back and forth. He had to stop. There was absolutely no way he could drive with all of that. It would have killed them if he didn’t. So, being a responsible adult, Asahi pulls over to the side of the road and leaned his head against the steering wheel, struggling to control his anxiety. But it was harder than he thought. Thank God Noya was there with him.
After only a few seconds of him silently panicking Noya pulled him out of it by coaxing him to lay down on the flat seats. It helped a bit, but what helped the most was the music. He could block out the sound of the rain somewhat, but he still jumped whenever the thunder sounded.
“Huh? Yeah, I’m trying.” He wasn’t doing alright, but he was doing better than he was a few minutes ago.
Noya brought his hand up to slip the hairband out of Asahi’s hair, beginning to ruffle and let the strands tumble through his fingertips while the music faded into the next song, not allowing a moment of silence to pierce the content, yet on edge atmosphere. He knew what things he needed to do to make sure that, no matter the thunder, Asahi could find a way to relax until the storm passed. As he played with the elder’s hair, Noya also rubbed and massaged his back and shoulders, humming to the music softly. To hear he was at least trying made Noya feel a little better, not wanting him to be overwhelmed with his anxiety. He had seen what it could do to the ace, and he never wanted to see him like that if he could help it...
Shifting on top of the seats, Noya sat up a little more against the door and guided Asahi over and on top of him, allowing him to rest his head on the libero’s chest. If his heart beat could help, he’d try it. If holding him could help, he’d do it. He’d do anything for him. Just to make sure that he was okay...
