Synopsis from Baidu:

The drama is adapted from the work of the same name by Kennedy Xu. It tells the story of the strange scenery drawings, ticket stubs and receipts, teammate evaluations, as well as historical sentiments and thoughts during tomb-raiding that were recorded in the personal notebook carried by Wu Xie, the protagonist of *The Lost Tomb*. The plot restores Wu Xie’s adventures and inner process during tomb-raiding through the contents of the notebook.

Actually, looking at how they did Wu Xie's Private Notes, if they keep this cast all the way through, they might actually be able to adapt Vol. 8.

In that, a problem with making a visual adaptation is that Wu Xie looks like his uncle through most of it. Awkward to get rid of your charismatic face actor the audience is attached to for some other guy.

Except the guy playing San-shu in Private Notes, Francis Ng, is charismatic as fuck. If they keep him for the other story arcs with San-shu (Heavenly Palace, Snake Marsh Ghost City) and mebbe a few cameos elsewhere, well, we'd be attached -- and it'd be really fun seeing Ng act as Wu Xie acting as San-shu.
