Crime thriller set during the Hongkong handover to China in 1997. It consists of three losely connected episodes (made by different directors) about three criminals, all in some way trying to adjust to the upcoming handover and the new players who want their share, mostly in the form of corrupt officials.
Two of the stories are good, the one about the bored kidnapper isn't really a good fit. Embedding the stories into a historic context makes it interesting. Though for a while I was wondering if the movie is trying to make me feel sorry for these criminals, which I thought would be an odd thing to do. But at the end the cynical view prevailed, that the old crime gets just replaced by new forms of crime.
