setting: evening in central park

Sherri found herself back at another art and wine class a month after her last visit, but there were two things different this time. One: this particular setting was outdoors. A perk of the summer weather meant that the usually indoor art class could take full advantage of the outdoor scenery due to the nicer weather, and Sherri wasn’t complaining. They were stationed in some corner of Central Park that was rented out for the evening. Twinkly lights hung from trees and twirled around the legs of the easels scattered around the location, providing a warm glow along with the exterior lights. The evening’s art class was another partner painting event, a fact made evident by the fact that every easel was partnered off and placed back to back with another. Sherri knew this was done in order to prevent one painter from seeing the work being created by their partner until they revealed their art to each other at the end. The paired structures each held blank canvases and were accompanied by two stools for the prospective painters, as well as two side tables placed on either side of them — one for their shared wine, and one for their shared paint.

She had done this once prior and enjoyed herself enough that she thought it’d make a good idea for what she was here for tonight, which led her to the second major change of the evening: she was on a date. A rarity, truly. As of late, Sherri’s love life has felt a little bit like a disaster, and the women in her life were fully to blame for that. After the fiasco that was Pride, the blonde found herself returning to her dating apps, not because she wanted to be in a relationship, but because she wanted to feel in control again. Dating apps provided that for her. She ditched Tinder (she wasn’t looking for a hookup) and Bumble (she wanted control for sure, but not so bad she wanted to message first), settling into Hinge to flirt with cute guys. An easy, simple task — a phrase that could be used to describe her entire vibe for the night. She met the guy on a dating app, picked an activity for their date fully in her comfort zone, and (most importantly) picked a guy who seemed… simple. Frankie was a guy who liked flowers and had a nice smile (he was also hot as fuck but that wasn’t an essential qualifier for her date tonight). His vibes read easy, which was what she wanted. She foresaw a nice evening with him, painting and drinking and feeling firmly in control by the night’s end. If he was a good date, she’d kiss him at the end, then be on her merry way never to speak again, regaining a feeling of control in her dating life that had gone out the fucking window last month. So long as he wasn’t a catfish or a douche, the night should go swimmingly. An easy, simple task.

Donned in a simple red and pink maxi dress paired with simple gold jewelry, Sherri eased her way over to one of the paired stations and took a seat. Lifting up the menu on the wine table to do something with her hands, she browsed through the sections available for tonight as she waited for her date to find her and make the first move.

“Uhhh…” Tallulah had not noticed the woman’s presence in the room and was therefore taken aback by her question. Curious eyes scanned over her figure and then back to the clothes on the rack. “I think so” She seemed beautiful and graceful, the latter a trait she undoubtedly did not possess. Beautiful also wasn’t something she had ever described herself as until her arrival, not because she didn’t think she was, but rather because it was something she thought about at all. But there was so much free time to be spent, so many beautiful things surrounding her, that she had no choice but to. “I’m looking for something to wear, something new”, she stated the obvious. “There’s a club I want to go to but… I don’t know what to wear. I’m not sure what people wear in general but I was told to find myself something appropriate”
