Emotion Poses Using Franklin
Reference
Before you start animating, find photo or video reference for the following emotions:
Anger
Joy
Sadness
Fear
Posing the Character
Pose the Franklin Rig on frames 1, 7, 14, and 21 by using Set Keyframe (shortcut S).
First make sure you’re on one of the above frame #s on your Timeline (Window -> Animation -> Timeline).
Move a joint to where you want it, eg: diamond on the wrist, ring around the foot, ‘hula hoop’ around waist, ring around head.
Press S to Set Keyframe for that particular joint, a thin red line should appear at the left of the frame number.
Move the character’s major joints into a pose, hitting S once it’s in place, to pose the character in each of the 4 emotions above.
Remember each joint needs its own keyframe, if there is no keyframe on the joint, it will pop out of place when you move to a different frame on the timeline (and you can’t Undo to get it back, you need to move it in place again and set a keyframe)
Once Your Pose is in Place
Save!
Click or click and drag along the timeline to a different frame to setup a new pose, eg: frame 1 could be Joy, then on Frame 7 create the Anger pose, on Frame 14 create the Sadness pose, Frame 21 the Fear pose.
Leave some frames between the poses, if you need to relocate the keyframes, select the joint(s) that you’ve positioned, right click the timeline on the frame you want, choose Cut or Copy, then right click on the timeline in a different position and choose Paste.
Alternatively you could open the Graph Editor (Windows->Animation Editor -> Graph Editor), select the joints in the perspective view, then click and drag the keyframes in the graph editor to a new location.
Render
Render your 4 poses (you can just use Maya Software renderer) and also post your reference images for each emotion.
