i find the forst's relationship in the beauty so interesting. like they have more money than god there's absolutely no reason they couldn't stay married and be living completely separate lives and never see each other. and yet, they have dinner together, go on yacht trips, he pitches the beauty to her in an elaborate production, he can't wait to tell her all about it. they're openly disdainful and insulting each other the whole time, but they're actively hanging out. like they clearly deeply resent each other but there's obviously also something they enjoy at some level about being miserable together
