The parents -
Who first brought up having/adopting kids? - Nessy, probably. In the context of perhaps taking any firstborn of Leo’s sisters as heirs... Because she’s not entirely sure her origins lend themselves towards fertility.
Which parent is most overprotective? - Leo worries so much for his girl what are you talking about. She is so small and precious he has to protect her. Constant vigilance. Even from sheep that look at her funny.
Which parent is most supportive? - Nessy might not have the most faith in herself, but she knows her girl can do whatever she puts her mind to. She’s that super positive mom who helps her realize her potential.
Which parent expects the most from their child? - Nessy. Coming from a foreign power, she thinks her girl might have to work harder for acknowledgment, being both the daughter of an outsider and coming from a Laguz lineage. She just wants her daughter to be loved and respected by her people.
Which parent is more likely to spoil their child? - Leo. His girl gets everything. Tiny duchess deserves all the things in his eyes, while Nessy is a bit more firm in her beliefs about moderation.
Which parent does the child go to to get their way? - Leo is easier to twist around her pinky than Nessy. Nessy has babysat her ‘nieces’ too much to be swayed by puppy eyes and pleading.
Which parent is the best at singing lullabies? - Nessy has a very soft, pleasing voice.
Which parent finds it harder to let go? - Leo, because daddy’s girl grew up too fast for his liking and why can’t she stay small and safe?
The kid -
What the kids name is and the meaning behind it. - Leandra Valeria Katerina Helgeison of Haldeen. Because we’ve made it standard at this point that Haldeenian nobles have some long names. Leandra is simple, as we seem to have established any lady in Stefan’s lineage is a ‘lioness’, which is a direct translation of the name itself. Valeria is likewise thematic, as Nessy and her father have names derived from cat attractants (Nesomia chiapensis and Teucrium marum.) Katerina is there because every Helgeison lady needs a third name before her family name, and might come from some story her mother likes.
What traits the kid has that doesn’t reflect their parents. - For starter, she’s very outgoing. People are more likely to notice this child is the most gregarious, personable little lady to come from such a withdrawn, shy couple. Adventurous and loud-mouthed, it’s often a castle-wide curiosity that Lady Leandra be so bombastic compared to her parents. Other than that, it’s largely a matter of looks. Leandra is far more a Helgeison than she is any other part of her family tree. You can say that she has Stefan’s nose, Nessy and her father’s golden eyes, Niamh’s light curls... and no one will see anything but her soft, angelic face and stark white hair. The fact her parents are both lettuce-headed with more defined faces means little. Their genes lost out to Leo’s mother.
What the kids favorite clothing style is. - Yes hello she understands that she is a duchess and third in line to rule Haldeen behind her father but does that mean she’s gotta wear so many fine clothes and jewels? She’s ore content in coarser, working clothes with simple skirts and blouses, her hair pulled into a simple, messy ponytail. No one is really able to tell her no, so outside of serious political needs, she’s typically dressed down compared to the rest of the court. The most she splurges on are sturdy sauntering shoes and impressive needlework on her blouses.
What their favorite cartoon is.
What skills their parents try to pass down to them. - Leo tries to hand down good leadership and a little bit of swordplay, while Nessy tries to nurture an interest in magic and diplomacy. All is for naught as Leandra simply desires to BECOME STRONG like Grandpa Muarim.
What their future might be. - Duchess of Haldeen. But like, an adventuring one. One that rides out in acts of daring do to look out for the little people of Haldeen. She might be some kind of Warrior Queen in future stories.
The family -
Who the child’s godparents are. - I feel like there was some back and forth about either Leo’s sister Eydis, or Nessy’s half-sister Nuala, but in the end Kitten got to hold the little duchess, cooed over her, and found herself bonding with the baby so much.... They had no other option but their old friend the tigress.
Do their parents plan on giving them any siblings? - she does get one little sister in the future, but that’s it.
What is the child’s first pet? - Godmother Kitten has gifted Leandra a squirrel. Leandra now knows what love is, even as it despises every living creature in the court except its tiny mistress.
How do they get along with any extended family members? - Very well. Exuberant, curious little Leandra always wants to be involved with her father’s family and their roles in Haldeen, from Grandma Reneya ruling to Auntie Eira overseeing the guards. Whenever Nessy’s parents visit from Sienne she is super hyped to hear all of Niamh and Muarim’s stories and show them all she’s done since the last time she saw them. She charms people easily, if leaving them a little winded.
I finished adding all the remaining touches! This was a 3 painfully long month process. One of those months was taken off so I could prepare for college;;
