walking down the road, listening to killer queen eating my meal deal feeling like a bad bitch
"we need to protect women's spaces by making trans people go into the bathrooms and changing rooms etc. that align with the gender they were assigned with at birth." YAP YAP YAP that's all i'm hearing
(excuse the lack of capital letters, i'm far too lazy to use the shift button unless i'm making a point right now)
this is why i find the bathroom bills in the us so fucking stupid it's almost laughable. i understand the desire to 'protect women's spaces' as they put it. it's an issue. but not caused by trans women, who are, in fact, women who need to be protected. they are women in those spaces too.
i feel i should point out that i am a pre-transition transmasc teenager living in the UK. (who also studies politics and sociology)
what's stupid about them is the fact that you would be, yes, stopping potential predators from dressing up as women to go into women's spaces (which seems like an awful lot of hassle to me when you can quite easily just walk in as you are), but you would also be sending trans MEN into women's spaces.
now, there are plenty of trans men who are lucky enough to be cis passing, meaning they fit the aesthetic of masculinity that the average person attributes to a biological male in society. so these are MEN, assigned female at birth, who look like BIOLOGICAL men going into the women's bathrooms because they are following the law like good citizens, however oppressive that law may be.
maybe i'm just stupid but, in my eyes, these bills actually make it EASIER for predators to go into women's spaces under the pretence that they are trans men. of course, most people, specifically the government forget that trans men even exist, as shown by this bill and therefore don't anticipate this sort of loophole, and the ones who don't forget about trans men are likely hugely misogynistic and couldn't comprehend the possibility that someone who is, in their eyes, a woman could be conventionally masculine enough for strangers to not question their gender identity.
regardless, my point still stands. the world is governed by ignorant waffleheads especially the us.
LOCK IN LOCK IN LOCK IN
why am i only just discovering self-adhesive bandages? like they're so cool??? they're not sticky but stick to themself??? im actually mind blown and they're now my new favourite thing
We need more portrayal of teenagers with acne. No 16 year old has crystal clear skin. Not everyone moisturises every day or cleanses, especially boys. Sometimes we forget to wash our face. It’s fine. It’s normal. Why do all teenagers in tv and film have perfect skin? Yes, there’s makeup and yes they’re often played by older actors but that doesn’t matter to me. They’re supposed to be teenagers, so they should look like teenagers.
Beauty standards suck
parents should listen to the lyrics of songs their children listen to. might save some godamn lives
i love when fan artists draw men and they look all pretty and feminine bc they’re so cute
