‘Tis the season for flower arranging. Roses, hydrangeas, wisteria, waterlilies, they’re all bursting into bloom. With the pouring rain today, I just know the bounty will be great this week! It’s one of my great joys - to grab a pretty pitcher of water and my scissors (I know, I should use clippers😬) and stroll through the grounds, gathering whatever catches my eye. . Don’t ever feel limited to just the planted flowers. Shrubs, foliage in general, adds so much to each bouquet. Look for ivy and other vines to spill out of your arrangements, adding motion to them. I almost always include wild mint in my arrangements for the leafy texture and irresistible fragrance. (Swipe to see how pretty it can be). Sometimes it’s the most humble plant that gives the most to your collection. . No garden? No problem! This is also the best time of year for Farmer’s Markets - in downtown Frederick, at the Frederick Fairgrounds, Kentlands and Olney in Montgomery county. So many - look them up and support these vital members of our community. .
