More Info : As we came to learn through experience, providing two growing calves with food is not cheap. The ideal nutrition for cows is green pasture and/or dry hay in large quantities. The expenses sum up to around $US 500 per month, for both girls. In addition to food expenses there are of course medical expenses. that can not and should not be avoided.
Luna, was abandoned in the middle of a field. She was found dehydrated and in addition she refused to eat for almost a week ,We had low hopes for the survival of Luna and it seemed as if she has given up.
Luckily another calf was found on a highway a few weeks prior. That calf was named Diana and unlike Luna, she was very outgoing, craved attention and drank bottled milk with great appetite.
As a last resort we decided to unite Luna and Diana in the hopes that Diana may encourages Luna to start eating.
What we witnessed was beyond what we have expected. On the first night together the 2 cuddled each other to sleep. Luna started to come out of her shell and with Diana as a roll model, she at last started eating.
We managed to find a good home for the 2 since separating them was no longer an option. The new home was a successes and they even made friends with the house cat a dogs!

Since the girls are growing in size, we have relocated them to a bigger home where they will be loved and taken care of by a good vegan family.
Although the family happily agreed to foster the 2 girls, we still need to calf proof the yard and provide the food and medical aid necessary.
We built the required fence and shelter ourselves but we need assistance with the costs of building materials. The calf proofing is evaluated at around $US 1,200.
