When I first landed in Dubai, I didn’t have much, just a laptop, a half-baked idea for a software tool, and a ton of determination. The city felt unreal at first, skyscrapers everywhere, people always on the move, every coffee shop filled with someone pitching or building something. It made me want to go all in.
I’d been stuck in my comfort zone for too long, working a 9-to-5 that didn’t really challenge me. So, I decided to take a shot at building my own thing, a small SaaS project that helps businesses manage their clients better. I had no clue where to start, but after a few sleepless nights of research, I came across Dubai’s free zones and realized it was actually possible to set up a company without crazy costs or paperwork nightmares.
Registering my business was way smoother than I imagined. I used an online setup platform called 1TapBiz, and honestly, that saved me from getting buried in forms. Within days, I had my trade license, an address, and a clear path forward.
The first few months were tough. Long hours, failed demos, self-doubt, all of it. But I also met some of the most driven people I’ve ever known. Every conversation felt like a push to dream bigger.
Fast forward a few months, and my tiny product now has paying users, I’ve got a small team sharing my vision, and I’m still learning something new every single day.
