please...we are not twitter...please....but also the funny thing is if you click on the 'share anything' text it just brings up the new post popup like why did we need this then? when will companies cease to change things around unnecessarily for the illusion of progress and innovation?
politeness and kindness is a social contract and if you're acting in bad faith the only thing keeping the other party from acting just as shitty is their own principles on how to treat others
listen in korean before you eat a meal you always say 잘먹겠습니다 (i will enjoy this food, implied to have been given by you) and afterwards you always say 잘먹었습니다 (i ate well) and we need to be bringing this energy into fandom spaces
the hello kitty post was ai slop and i wish we'd never gone past llms trying to name cereal boxes
hmm now that i'm thinking a bit more
i think a lot of artists (like people who make/do art, not just visual artists) get a lot of 'you should do it for the love of the craft!' kind of sentiments drilled into them, and while that's fundamentally true (i truly believe that everyone should know the joy of making something or moving something, like the basic joy you see in a 2yo) i think it's a little different when it comes to fandom and other community spaces
like fundamentally those are places of exchanging ideas and works and connecting on an emotional level with other people, so if despite effort on your end there's nothing in return it kind of makes it hard to keep going For The Love Of The Craft or For Your Own Joy. that kind of tenacity and perseverance takes a lot more fortitude than people expect
this is a separate concept from 'don't make creative output your whole identity' and 'you have to be able to enjoy the process and not be beholden to anyone outside of it' or 'internet comments are my only form of validation', though that last one is sometimes unfortunately the reality for many people who lack offline community support
the corpses of abandoned and neglected hobbies? yeah they're in the room right now
Really feeling that need for one billion years in a crystal
