Chartreuse: Élixir of the Gods! (Unifinished, Unposted Writing)
So everyone knows my obsession with Absinthe. I’m a French gal, so when I discovered the BEST writing muse ever (enter the Green Fairy), I loved it right away. This was during my Haiku phase, so naturally most of my Haiku was Green Fairy inspired and hilarious.
Then a friend tells me about Chartreuse!!! OOOOH what’s this green shiz named after a color it’s totally not?! Who makes it? WHAR IS IT?!!!
Info: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chartreuse_(liqueur)
The mystique around this drink is what’s really quite fascinating. It is made by some monks in France. Try to look up an ingredients list, and you discover it has over 130 different herbs but they are secret. Only 2 monks are allowed to know the secret recipe. Lol. They are The Guardians of the Elixir of the Gods!!! 😜✊🏽OMG HOW DO I BECOME A GUARDIAN? Sign me upsies!
This shiz is over 55% alcohol, and not cheap. It’s a sipping liquor or a good mixer in a cocktail… unless you’re a monk, then they drink it straight. It’s a spiritual experience, I assure you.
It has a very sweet initial waves of heavy spearmint upon first sip… but slight undertones of some bitter herbs to balance out the flavor hit you in the aftertaste. It’s definitely the kind of stuff that WILL give you a hangover as it is very very sweet. I detect some hints of saffron and possibly something sassafrasish. I’d like to try some in some root beer or ginger beer sometime. Pumpkin juice is out of season, or else that would make a fine cocktail too.
The history about the Carthusian order of monks who take a vow of silence so they can brew the most amazing stuff on earth, is quite interesting:

I would totally take this stuff during communion! Lol. So much for wine or grape juice. If you’re catholic, demand your priest order some of this for Sundays! You know the Pope keeps some of this stuff stocked.
This secret recipe comes straight from King Henry IV, who bestowed this monastery with a secret alchemical manuscript containing the Elixir of Life! HOLY CRAP, THAT’S SOME ALCHEMICAL MAGICS RIGHT THERE!!! The Holy Grail has been found! 🏆
These monks literally have an herb room most herbalists would swoon over where they bag the herbs to carry down a mountain to their distillery. It’s a combination of complex process ranging from macerates, to infusions, to distillation. YIKESIES! That’s some heavy duty herbal know-how there. My grams totally didn’t teach me this stuff growing up.
Final Analysis: This stuff has more mystery behind it than The Da Vinci code, and for that I have to rate it fairly high. It’s a delightful refreshing, albeit a slightly overpoweringly sweet Elixir, that I hope will eventually save my life in some way shape or form.
4 Bumblebees out of 5= 🐝🐝🐝🐝
This sweet nectar is one bumblebees everywhere would definitely love. So take some back home to your Queen Bee tonight!
PS: in an interesting impromptu experiment in keeping with the above referenced article about Chartreuse, I just happened to have the opportunity to try Mezcal the same night. I have to say, I can see why the 2 guys took some to France on their distillery tour, cuz it did happen to be nice after the Chartreuse. I will now dedicate my cocktail experimenting to inventing a recipe that incorporates both!… except you can have the scorpion at the bottom, cuz that shiz creeps me the eff out! #NoBugsInMyBooze please!!! 🦂😝 And yes, that’s an official request.

I'm French... Pt 6
Delphine laughed softly, something she didn’t do much of these days, but this had turned out unexpectadly… amusing… considering the fingers pressing into her, the palm grinding against her clit as lips claimed her own, the bartender ridiculously straining on the tips of her toes for the kiss, Delphine’s own hands cupping soft breasts through the woman’s tank top, laughingly standing at full height to make it difficult.
When the woman had proclaimed last call and Delphine had remained after the last scraggler had left, she’d expected to be shooed off, having consumed more alcohol than was wise, but instead she had recieved a seductive smile, a well placed flirt, and she was now pinning the woman against the bar, drunk fingers fumbling, thrusting, caressing, needing.
In a mix of drunken tumbling… wrestling maybe, she was suddenly against the bar, skirt hiked up, panties removed and the shorter woman kneeling before her, lips and tongue claiming her, spinning against her like Delphine’s drunken mind, making her cry out in ecstacy much sooner than she should have, her bent and weak knees making it easier for her lips to suddenly be captured by a mouth that tasted like sex, easier for the tongue to plunge into her mouth for just a few agonizing moments before pulling away.
“Let me call you a cab, Beautiful.”
