─「天照」─ it had become a bit of a COMMON SIGHT for the people around town to spot a certain white wolf with a SNAKE riding on her back strolling around this area. not many had the chance to actually see the both of them out for too long, before the sight itself had become a bit of a mystery because no one could ever tell where they disappear off to.

today, however, the pair was seen only BRIEFLY as the first snow happened a few days back, rendering the atmosphere quite cold and they were taking a walk in town to admire the lights, this time, in their HUMAN FORMS. the sun goddess was in a particularly good mood today despite the sun not being out. after all, everyone was HAPPY during this christmas occasion, despite her not knowing what it was exactly. that, and she was holding hands and admiring the decorations with him --- what more could she ask for ?

“ orochi --- wait. ”

her attention was caught to the FAMILIAR PLANT being hung above them, recalling a bit of a tradition she had heard humans mentioned and how it was customary to do a certain action underneath it. of course, the MOTHER WOLF didn’t leave much of a pause ( or more like a chance for him to escape ) as she tugged the other’s hand towards her, and stole a kiss to his lips.

certainly, if she had her ears and tail out, they’d be wagging and wiggling happily. a bright smile bloomed on her lips when she leaned back. a kind of smile that LIT UP the whole day despite the falling snow.

She'd been staring - no, grinning - at her phone way too long to just be having a casual glance. A few minutes, perhaps? It was only when the slight movement to her left caught her attention that she tore her gaze away from the screen.

Her face paled; had she forgotten he was there just because Keiji sent her a video of a cycling race at his university? What an awful girlfriend she was...

Katsumi set her phone down and rolled onto her stomach, flat on her bed, and she gently poked his knee. "Are you hungry, Shou?" she asked, perching her chin on her fist. "I'm hungry. Want to go out to eat?"

They’ve recently moved in together, but somehow haven’t actually spent that much time with each other. It’s game season for him, which means a lot of traveling, and her residency rotation has her working shifts at all hours. When their schedules do match, the quietude of their house becomes peaceful and comforting. And for someone who’s spent many years alone in empty homes, Alice couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Tobio arrives later than usual that evening, exhausted from a heavy training session. Despite his usual large appetite, she knows that at times like these he’d rather have something lighter to eat. While he soaks his overworked muscles in a hot bath, she puts away what she’d made for dinner earlier and makes him some miso soup instead.

He emerges from the bath looking better, definitely more relaxed, but still quite tired. They don’t exchange any words; his gratitude easily telegraphed to her in the way he leans into her affectionate touches, how much he’s missed her in the way he holds her still by his side for just a second, resting his cheek to her hair and taking in the scent of her shampoo.

After he’s eaten, they both retire to their bedroom, and Alice has him sit still for a little bit so she can rub his shoulders, working at the tension spots she’s been familiar with ever since their school days. Pressing a soft kiss to the back of his neck once all the knots have been worked away, she’s stepping down from the bed to go grab a new book for her bedside table when she suddenly finds herself lifted off the ground and dropped back onto the mattress. His steady, meticulous hands are just as used to easing out the aches on her lower back, and from there, it’s remarkably easy for her to find her place in his embrace, ready to fall asleep.

The buzz of a new message on her phone draws a tiny sigh from her, and with an apologetic caress along his muscular arm, Alice shifts to grab the device. Tobio quietly refuses to loosen his grip on her, but soon relaxes as his breathing grows deeper. She dims the light on her screen so she can read without disturbing him, skimming over the email detailing a few changes on her schedule for next week.

Double checking the notifications, she finds a message from an old friend she hadn’t noticed before: a funny screenshot from one of her boyfriend’s many ads and an inquiry as to when they’ll be getting married. They’ve been getting those sorts of comments for a while now, particularly from their grandparents. It brings a smile to her face, but it’s too soon for that kind of talk. She is one-handedly telling her friend so when Tobio’s voice breaks the comfortable silence of their entire time together that day with something that sends her heart thundering inside her chest.

Her phone forgotten, Alice turns around in his embrace to properly meet his gaze - tired, sleepy, and absolutely earnest - a smile blooming across her lips to match the warmth coloring her cheeks. Touching his handsome face, she kisses him softly, pulling away just enough to be able to say “I love you, Tobio...”.

@freuitt: on her finger, there's a ring that she's never seen before. it's been carefully slipped on during the night, coarse fingers careful not to scratch her skin in the slightest. of course, he doesn't get a wink of sleep -- this cheap tactic makes him restless and unsure, but yet ... the image of her bright smile first thing in the morning simply can't be beaten. for the tired and weary man, her happiness is a cure; so he does not fight his restlessness and watches her through the night.

Yuutarou has been working late more often than not. She tries to stay up with him, bringing him tea instead of coffee and keeping him silent company, but sometimes her own schedule demands that she turn in without him. The bed feels empty and cold without him by her side, but it doesn’t matter because she knows he’ll be there when she wakes.

Golden lashes flutter open as the day breaks, even before her alarm rings. There’s been a strange sensation keeping her aware even as she slept, as if she was being watched, and it allowed her to consciously traverse silly dreams in which a small, fragrant flower had bloomed on the back of her hand, its roots wrapping around her fingers.

She wakes to the sight of Yuutarou looking at her. A smile takes over her lips and she greets him with a sleep-soft voice. “Did you not sleep well? You look tired-” Alice worriedly points out, running her fingers through her hair and halting when she feels the addition against her skin. Pulling her hand back, she looks down and it takes her a moment to register the meaning behind the mysterious appearance of a gorgeous diamond ring on her fourth finger.

A tiny gasp finally escapes her, and she turns to look at him with brilliant green eyes starting to grow misty with happy tears. “Really..?” She asks in a breath, suddenly not knowing if she’s still in a dream or not. So she makes sure of it. Shifting closer, Alice cradles his handsome face in her small hands and kisses him for a long, long moment, pulling away to take in a much needed breath and stealing one more kiss before meeting his eyes again.

“I love you.” Is her easy answer, small tears clinging to her lashes. “I love you so much.” Touching her forehead to his, she takes in a shaky breath, doing her best to not end up crying in full. “I can’t wait to be your wife.”
