Spook-Delicious!
Its finally here, national greasy food day! We know you all love french fries, chicken wings, baby back ribs and pretty much anything you can slather with butter and dress with fried bread crumbs. However, did you ever think to add Mr. Hershey’s chocolate to the mix? For this Halloween try deep fried Snicker bars (or even Kit Kat’s). They may give you a stomach ache after, but they sure did taste spook-delicious!
Fried Chicken, Oreos, and Snickers
Fried foods have a bad rap, but why? They are so good, and can be so good for you. When people think about fried foods, two things come to mind: fast food and obesity. You know why? Because people are not informed about the healthy alternatives that are available. When frying food, you do not need to use fatty oils that are used in fast food chains, primarily because they are cheaper. Most people fry foods in butter, trans fat, or shortening, when they are many healthful oil alternatives like those with the healthy heart check on them.
All foods can be bad for you, but they are eaten in moderation and the same thing applies for fried foods. What can you do make fried meals even healthier? You can eat them with a side salad, fruits, or vegetables. This pairing fills you up quicker, so that you will not be tempted to go back for seconds on the fried chicken. You can eat them in the morning and eat 'healthier' throughout the day, which allows you to work off the fatty foods through the whole day and combat the okay food with better food!
Fried sweets have an even worse rap, but using the same tips as with fried foods, they will not affect a person's health negatively in any way. Fried sweets can be used as a treat or only be prepared on special occasions. Rather than taking your children or younger siblings trick-or-treating, you could prepare a fried treats for the whole family to share! This way you know exactly what they are eating, and if you make the food in a healthy oil, it makes it even better!
