Frisco Melt
Frisco Melt and Cheese Sauce
Homemade patty melts, frisco sauce, and cheese sauce plus shoestring fries!! This was a triumph! I’m making a note here: huge success. This recipes produces four sandwiches.
Ingredients
Frisco Melt
4 raw hamburger patties 8 slices white American cheese 8 slices white bread Salt and pepper Butter
Frisco Sauce
1/2 cup thousand island dressing 1/4 cup french dressing 1/4 cup ketchup
Cheese Sauce
3 tbsp all purpose flour 3 tbsp butter Pinch of cayenne pepper ½ tsp garlic powder ½ tsp salt Pinch of pepper ½ tsp paprika 1 cup milk 1¼ cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
Frisco Melt
1. Cute the four patties in half so that there are eight pieces. Pound each piece into thin patties. Apply salt and pepper to each side. 2. Heat one tablespoon of butter in a non-stick pan, and cook the patties for about five minutes on each side, to your preferred doneness. 3. Pat the cooked patties dry with paper towels, then assemble the melt: apply frisco sauce to the bottom piece of bread, then add one slice of cheese, top with a cooked pattie, then another piece of cheese, then a second pattie, and then apply frisco sauce to the top piece of bread. 4. Clean out the pan, then heat one tablespoon of butter and add the completed sandwich. Toast on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese metled. Serve!
Frisco Sauce
1. Combine all ingredients and whisk together. 2. Makes about 1 cup.
Cheese Sauce
1. In a sauce pot on medium heat, melt the butter. 2. In a small dish, combine the flour with the spices and seasonings. 3. Once the butter is melted, add the flour mixture while whisking quickly for about two minutes. 4. Pour the milk into the pot and turn the heat up to high to bring to a boil. 5. Once the sauce thickens up, whisk the cheese into the pot and turn the heat down to low. 6. If needed, add more milk until desired thickness is reached. 7. Makes about 1½ cups.
