Your Undertale painting (this one: houdidesu(.)tumblr(.)com/post/139705620133) is the most beautiful thing *ever* and I was wondering if you have any tips for learning to paint like that? I hope this isn't too big an ask, thank you if you reply! ^_^ x
I’ve talked abit about my painting process before in this tag!
kjadhdaksj I don’t really know if there really any tips I can give other than juST PAINT IT. Even if you don’t have a clear idea of what you’re doing, just do it since digital painting are generally very easy to fix. I find that the less layers you use, the better it is in the long run since layer management is very easy and if you done goofed you don’t have to cycle through 5000 layers to find that one pixel line you did who knows when LOL....... Or may be I’m just very disorganized and not having a lot helps who knows. And with painting, usually in the beginning you don’t want to go too much into small details and get de-motivated later on. I don’t even zoom in until I have had all of my colours and contrast laid down. This obv fluctuates too since on some full moons I want to paint character’s faces first so ///////shrugs/ there aren’t really any rules.
I think if you just have fun and experiment with colours/compositions, and add a bunch of stuff to satisfy your need of filling every inch of the painting lol.
Here’s a quick gif of how I do my characters + BG + strong window light stuff hahah
This had about 5 layers for sketch, main shadows, colours, secondary shadows, overlay. And then I just merge them all and scream paint. These usually take me about 3 hrs each give or take. It’s a fast process where you put down what you want to experiment with and not really about stressing yourselves over rendering it perfectly. In the end, I think what matters the most is how the painting look as a whole instead of how well you render the bed frame. But I know there those who enjoy crazily detailed rendering a lot and those always look amazing so knock yourselves out and start painting!
