BEOWULF'S CHILDREN (1995) by Michael Whelan, cover for the book by Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, and Steven Barnes.
Michael completed this illustration around the time I first contacted him about putting together his original website. But for whatever reason, I never received a scan of it for my digital archive.
While sorting through paintings in studio recently, I was excited to see the title on a storage tag and naturally took the opportunity to correct that omission.
The last photo gives a reference to the size of the painting (36" x 27"). The illustration was executed in watercolor and acrylic on watercolor board.
In discussing the pros & cons of a studio space
M: I mean yes, we have talked about corpse diamonds before...
A: And making swords with the blood of our enemies.
M: Yes...
A: I mean if someone wanted to donate thier body to me for science.
M: I think there are permits required for that sort of thing.
A: Ok, if someone wanted to donate thier body to me for mad science.
M: ...
A: What? I figure there is less paperwork if it's mad science.
Physically hurting from sadness. Found adequate respite in my work.

R Kelly Evicted From The Studio Featured In Lifetime Docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly”
R Kelly is being shown the door from his music studio in Chicago.
This is the same studio that was featured in the Lifetime docuseries where most of his dirty work in abusing women went down.
But however his eviction comes from his failure to keep up with the rent space which according to reports he is behind on with a couple of months!
A source close to the property on the West Side of Chicago…
