New Training: Paw Awareness
Activity: Paw Awareness Date/ Time: 29/9/17 Afternoon Location: Own bedroom Conditions/ Area Type: Limited space, well known area, air-conditioned Mood: I was in a neutral mood while Altier was a bit playful, so he was acting very jumpy and hyper while being treat receptive.
I began by teaching Altier to put both paws into the raised bowl using the “Front Paws” Command while tapping the surface I wanted him to interact with. He picked it up fairly quickly so I changed it to a “Front Stand” command to indicate I wanted him to keep his front paws in the bowl and in a stand position, but that he was allowed to move his back paws. The next step was to stand beside him in a heal and nudge him around while praising him when he maintained or corrected himself into the “Front Stand” position. He did this pretty well but struggled when I tried to nudge him towards me.
Comments: Great training, needs more practice.
