I don’t know how to draw children

Arthur stared at the omega sleeping in his arms. Part of him wanted to get up and shower away the sticky feeling left from spending Francis’ heat together. But more than that, he wanted to just lay with his mate.

His mate.

Years of dancing around each other and whether or not there were any feelings returned, or even there at all. Dozens of lost chances. Even almost losing each other. All ending just a few days ago when Arthur agreed to mate Francis.

His mate.

He leaned down to kiss Francis’ forehead. “I love you.” he whispered.

Francis stirred, opening his eyes a minute later. “What time is it?” he murmured, “I'm starving,” he leaned over Arthur to check his clock, “We should order something.”

Francis still smelled like his heat. His messy hair was falling in his face, uncovering the bruise Arthur had left on his collarbone. Still, he was the most beautiful thing Arthur had ever seen.

“Marry me?” Arthur whispered.

Francis looked up at him, “What?”

“Please?”

Francis laughed, burying his face in Arthur's shoulder, “I hope you mean that.”

Arthur wrapped his arms around his husband's waist, pulling them close for their first dance as a married couple. “You look beautiful.” he whispered.

“Don't I always?” Francis laughed.

“I think you're more beautiful every day.”

“I'm going to be fat soon.” Francis reminded him, moving Arthur's hand from his back to his belly.

Arthur brought Francis’ other hand up to his lips, “And you'll be more beautiful than ever.”

Francis buried his face against Arthur's shoulder, hiding the fact that he was tearing up, “You're so sappy sometimes.”

“I prefer to call it romance.”

Francis looked back up at him, “You're usually terrible at romance. What's gotten into you?”

“I don't know,” Arthur shrugged, “Maybe it's because of the baby. Maybe it's because you finally agreed to spend your life with me.”

“I finally agreed?” Francis poked Arthur's shoulder, “I think you're confused.”

“I think the baby is messing up your memory.”

“I think I'm in love with you.”

Arthur rested their foreheads together, “I'm glad.”

They stayed like that, slowly rocking back and forth, until the song ended.

“Arthur?” Francis whispered.

“Mhm?”

“The baby's hungry. Can we have cake now?”

Arthur laughed, “We can have anything you want.”
