Styling Ever After High Characters: Justine Dancer 🩰✨

Justine Dancer, Youngest Daughter of the 12th Dancing Princess

Key Styling Details:

Colors: Pink, Yellow, White, Gold

Inspired by traditional ballet attire and aesthetic

As part of the ballet inspiration - some more modern fashion inspo comes from France and Italy (where the art form really got its start)

Pointe-inspired shoes (either pink or skin tone)

Gold flower details in her hair, inspiration taken from her crown

Eliminated all of her silver details because I think with her given color palette, it would make her outfits look a bit confused

Ribbons everywhere

Fan/Tutu style skirt

Classic but with enough of an edge that it isn’t like you are seeing something that has already been done (as opposed to Duchess who is interested in conformity)

I took a class on dance history and one of the best papers I’ve ever written in my life was one about ballet, thus it was very important for me to find examples of this style being worn on women of color to really acknowledge their part in that history

Oh my gosh guys! We did it! More is obviously coming when I actual design outfits but it’s been an absolutely wild ride. Just since I posted Jillian’s - I moved twice, had surgery, changed what I’m studying again, got a paper published under my name and went through like 4 new hyperfixations. Life is crazy.

Genuinely, thank you so much for sticking around this long and for all of your support! It means the world to me that something I’ve been doing alone for years can be appreciated.

C.A. Cupid, Daughter of Eros, transfer student from Monster High

Key Styling Details:

Colors: Pink, White, Gold, Red

Overall has a very soft look

Combination of inspo from Greco-Roman eras and the 1950 and 60s

HEARTS EVERYWHERE

Extremely femme looks

Feathers (wings specifically but also feathers)

Floral detailing with flowers and vines

Sparkles and pearls

Combination of puffy and long silhouettes (all very intentional)

Elegant in a way that is slightly different than the fairytale characters since she’s from a myth

Inspired by 90s Riot Grrrl fashion (Courtney Love, Gwen Stefani, Kathleen Hanna, etc.)

All the platforms!!

Plaid everywhere (think 90s Vivianne)

Leather accents to fits

Unlike Sparrow Hood, she is actually punk

Loosely based on how my friend dresses #protectthedolls

Layers and ruffles but not to create something cohesive, but to look messy

I feel like out of all the character designs in the show - hers is the most out of left field but I kind of love it anyways

Costume Redesign // C.A. Cupid (Ever After High) 💌✨

At the beginning of this project - I promised to redesign the 8 designs with the most notes…Upon further reflection, as a university student with upcoming exams and a very small amount of time on my hands anyways - I did not think that through to the extent I probably should have. (As of now I’m planning to do top 3-5 but that is fully dependent on if I have them time 🩷)

At the risk of sounding like an AO3 writer (can’t deny the truth, I fear) - little life update: This September is going to a hectic one, but this account is a good outlet for me so I will try to keep up with it. This month:

My younger brother ~ who I am partially responsible for ~ broke his arm on his birthday (he’s okay, took it like a champ)

I was really close to having a kidney infection (among other medical things-)

I have three exams in the span of three weeks

Two major uni projects

I am a varsity member of a sports team

I am an officer on the board for that sports team

Working 2 part time jobs and just got put onto a new project at one of them

My uni is doing Romeo & Juliet and I’m the understudy for Juliet, Lady Capulet & The Nurse

Prepping to present at a national conference at the end of the month

(then ofc like normal responsibilities of being a human person)

Styling Ever After High Characters: Madame Yaga 🔮✨

Baba Yaga, THE Baba Yaga

Colors: Brown, Red, Gold, Blue

Intricate head coverings

Sort of a mix between traditional babooshka and Slavic revival from the 70s

Carpet bags and shoes

Like stereotypically “witchy” as opposed to the cartoon ~ more rooted in the culture the story is from

Thick leather boots

Lots of knitwear and shawls (layers)

Bronze and gold detailing to add this sense of luxury

Rich fabrics to command a sense of power and respect from those around her

The occasional furs (for the vibes)

Styling Ever After High Characters: Mira Shards🪞✨

(Styling Ever After High 44/52) - excuse the number change I miscounted or mislabeled somewhere

Mira Shards, Daughter of the Magic Mirror from Snow White and not at all the Evil Queen in disguise

Colors: Black, White, Silver, Dark Pink

I got rid of the purple in her design because since it is not animated, her visual style would be too close to Raven (that would be a nice visual similarity but between the too but I think it would then make their connection too obvious)

Gothically inspired in the traditional sense - dark and grandiose details, maybe a bit of underlying otherness

Her looks are still stylish but I do want them to seem a bit more grown up than the other kids, like there’s just something off about it that can’t quite be placed

Lots of hanging details that are inspired by her accessories

Same goes for the lace

Some of the same pieces and silhouettes that are used for the Evil Queen, even if it is just subtlety

Shiny/Reflective details reminiscent of an actual mirror ~ shard details like the mirror prison

I want the pieces in her wardrobe to seem almost too shiny and new relative to the more lived in looks of some of the other characters

Like the concept of a veil being incorporated somehow (indicative of something to hide or the tradition of covering a mirror after someone’s death)

Purposefully in-line with Ashlynn’s look

Big emphasis on detailed skirts

Combo of traditional fairytale vibe and girl next door

Variety of textures happening

Dexter Charming, Son of King and Queen Charming

Key Styling Details:

Colors: Blue, Gold, Brown, White, Grey

More on why I think the Charming’s are southern - kids named after virtues, so many cousins, share the last name with a lot of other Charming’s but no relation

Dexter CANNOT be styled without his hipster swag

Clothing a lot more loose and casual compared to his sibling’s

Needs a pair of those slutty man glasses (you know the ones-)

While his looks are obviously more low effort, they are still very nice and befitting of royalty

Needs to always have a tie, a scarf or some type of neckerchief

The vibe is casually styled Ralph Lauren

Regal when needed but the silhouettes of his formal attire look odd on his frame
