Random gunfire, just one weapon, going off in the distance on post.
Sounds like an M16(?) in a residential area cause when the soldiers are training it's very faint and off in the distance. There's no consistency and I just heard a couple MP cars speed by. Well meow.
I guess I'll hear about it tomorrow.

.50 Cal gone wrong!
I was doing some .50 cal training several years ago while stationed in Ft. Lewis Washington. Note: we were actually in Yakima.
This round got scared and decided not to fly down range. ;)
Notice how not only the actual bullet has been pushed back into the casing, but the case itself has a "fold" in it about half-way down. No one got hurt, but it sure made it difficult to get the round out of the chamber. Since the round did not go off, the gun didn't cycle completely and of course everything got jammed up. These types of things (while relatively rare in occurence) used to scare the crap out of me. In the back of my mind I knew that if the gun went off as I was trying to clear it, would likely blow up in my face, or otherwise maim me, as opposed to outright killing me.
In the background you can barely see our Stryker vehicles. These are probably the best damn ground based vehicles the Army has!

I'm packing for yet another weekend at Ft. Lewis. Casey and I choose the best weekends...hands fucking down! Gonna sunbathe, watch the Avengers (fucking finally!), Skype dates, foooooooooood, have a drink or two bottles...and I'm gonna vent the shit out of my soul to her this weekend.
I've held so much in and I don't have Matt to vent to this weekend. Speaking of venting, I hope my wrist heals soon.
