He's never one to intrude in others' business, so when he notices the drunk on the other side of the street howling out obscenities at some teenagers he really doesn't want to interrupt, but maybe his job is beginning to wear off on him and his instinct as a bouncer is coming out, or maybe he just thinks taking down someone who is already staggering from foot to foot is an easy target. Whatever it is, Matty half-jogs across the street to tell the man to settle down, which naturally does exactly the opposite, and after a slow swing from the man that Matty easily evades, he loses his concentration for just one second and then feels the sharp shooting pain of a left hook hitting his jaw with a surprising amount of force.
He swings back out of instinct, once, then twice, and it's only a few seconds before he's in (yet another) brawl with a complete stranger, trying not to land too many punches while avoiding all of the ones at him, and cursing out a few words of filth in between – until there's a third presence pulling him back and he immediately tries to swing back to hit the new target. "Get the fuck off," he mutters out of breath.
