𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐝𝐲 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐭 the nines to see dior. she knew the bar wasn’t just one calloway sibling’s operation, though, so yves’s presence shouldn’t have surprised her. and it didn’t, not exactly. instead she felt a small, delayed recognition of how much time had passed. of how they’d once been the same kind of trouble, running parallel, and somehow they ended up on opposite sides of the city. she almost turned around, considering it for a full second, hand still on the door. but she forced herself forward instead, like ripping off a bandaid. how awkward could it really be? “yves, hey! damn, long time no see.” …okay, yeah, pretty awkward. she huffed a quiet breath through her nose, shifting her weight from one foot to the other, suddenly aware of the badge in her pocket. it made her think back to all the shit she’d talked on cops with him back before she ever thought she’d become one. “sorry, i was actually looking for dior. she here tonight?” then, to be polite but also because she did care, for old time's sake, "how have you been? were you at that masquerade thing?"
