So turns out there’s still a chance that June does still love Nick, that she’s not angry at him, and that she doesn’t see him as some kind of monster. And maybe—just maybe—we’ll actually get proper flashbacks and a real conclusion to their story. I honestly thought they are turning him into a full-blown fascist out of FUCKING NOWHERE and completely destroy us in the finale. But maybe, just maybe, they’ll actually tie it all together in a meaningful way—that June will feel the weight of her decision, that she’ll reflect on it and suffer because of it. It won’t fix everything, of course, but it would at least soften the blow. It would at least mean he’s not a fascist, that she did love him, and that she does regret what happened (oh I hope she suffers a lot). Maybe we’ll even get some beautifully shot flashbacks that help redeem this mess.
Because the worst-case scenario would’ve been thinking that Nick had some double life all along—chasing power and comfort in Gilead. If that had been the point they were trying to make? Thank God, it wasn’t.
As for June—we still don’t know what her point of view is. Why she just completely abandoned Nick in the last episode. It’ll be interesting to finally hear her reflect on that… if they even let her
